    Eastern Rome source material

Wayne Peacock's Palaestra is a good resource if you are looking for a distinctly Byzantine, as opposed to Eastern Roman, setting.
  2. Brennin Magalus

    Eastern Rome source material

Zoroaster or Zarathushtra was an Iranian prophet, not a god. Not by the time of Justinian. Also, it's usually rendered Mithras, although, Mithran might be the accusative form. He was very tenuously based on the Indo-Iranian god (later "angel") Mithra (or Mitra).

Mearls talks about his inspiration for the 4e classes

Yes. Start reading the Chronicles of Prydain yesterday.
  4. Brennin Magalus

Mearls talks about his inspiration for the 4e classes

    You're being facetious, right?
  5. Brennin Magalus

    Deva or Aasimar?

I am not particularly fond of deva but it is better than a lame, made up word like aasimar. (The Lord of the Flies reference was great, by the way. "Sucks to your aasimar!")

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

Yes, cuz' a concept developed in one context cannot be appropriated for another. I don't think so. Oh well. (Incidentally, it's loser not looser.)

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

    And he's lame.

Rant -- GM Control, Taking it Too Far?

You should have told him the hobgoblin was a polymorphed red dragon. :)
  9. Brennin Magalus

Rant -- GM Control, Taking it Too Far?

    Eliminating Eastern Flavor From D&D?

Yeah, I remember that part of the Chanson de Roland where Roland waxes verbose about the Forms in the midst of battling the Islamic Saracens. And it is well known that Galahad always carried a copy of the Laws in his saddle bag as he searched for the Holy Grail.

Kill, Make Whoopie With, or Marry? 2e. 3.x, and 4e

Kill 4e. Continue having "relations" with and marry 3e. I've already had 2e and now I ask myself "What was I thinking?"
  16. Brennin Magalus

Kill, Make Whoopie With, or Marry? 2e. 3.x, and 4e

You wouldn't happen to be a necromancer, would you?
  17. Brennin Magalus

    Do you like edition wars?

As a 3e partisan, I like them, to an extent. Of course, in the end, you are unlikely to change anyone's mind, but if you are in it for the love of arguing, then the lack of edition converts don't make no nevermind. :)
  18. Brennin Magalus

Wil Wheaton plays and reviews 4th.

I don't care for what I've seen of Whil Wheaton's opinions on any topic. Also, I find his gratuitous geek references off-putting.
  19. Brennin Magalus

    3.5 breakdown at high levels?

That's one of the reasons to get rid of draconic spellcasting.
  20. Brennin Magalus

    Farewell to thee D&D

This isn't difficult. He posted his opinion and said he was not interested in arguing about it. He did not write that dissenters were not welcome to post in the thread.
