Don't forget the metagame. If you sell that Speed weapon for a lower-enchanted weapon, the DM will feel obliged to even out your wealth-by-level, eventually. Speed is worse than useless, because it carries the opportunity cost of crimping the wealth guidelines.

Persistant Spell requires the spell in question to have either Personal range or a fixed range. Summon Monster and most other summoning spells don't fit that criteria. The 'broken' uses of Divine Persistant is mainly for self-buffs - Divine Power and the like.

Let me clarify: i'm looking for someone who can share the burden of fleshing out the world. So in the fluff, write more about interesting places, history, NPCs, that sort of thing. Try to keep it a little different from the standard d&d fare, too.

By the time monsters with DR/Epic start to show up, the PCs should have UMD and scrolls of Shapechange handy. This would go right through DR if you pick the right forms.
