    Devil's advocate

This is entirely incorrect. + # to damage comes at the end of the roll. X[w] only multiplies the dice you roll, not the additions due to feats, stats, or weapons properties such as versatile. You will never include static numbers inside the []'s, only dice.

Do crits on sneak attacks max the sneak attack dice?

as long as multiplied = maximized ;)

    Vorpal Crits

Oh thank god. Now we just have a few more pages of people complaining that CS isn't consistent or the book was badly edited, or the edition as a whole sucks or whatever they need to say to convince themselves they were not 'wrong' and the thread can finally die.

    Adventurers making money with profession

I'd probably try to adapt the skill challenge system. First you might have to come up with a craft knowledge skill and just let people take a feat to train in it. Then use the skill challenge system to complete objectives. Craft Weapon - involved in tasks that relate to crafting weapons...

    Vorpal Crits

When you ask CServ a question they start from a very basic precept that everyone calling them is an idiot. They have to answer in a way that will allow the person asking the question to understand what they need to do in that specific situation. They do not for example have a game term...

    I'm now confuzzled.

I agree with JC's implication that the word 'clear' is over used, especially on forum boards. What it is supposed to mean is that given a reasonable amount of ability and an unbiased starting point ( in most of the cases on this board that means reading comprehension and and an understanding of...

    I'm now confuzzled.

You won't find a list of everthing that is specifically included. In addition to being inefficient, it will be inaccurate the moment they release any new ability that adds bonus dice. Instead they indicate that all dice are maxed and then list exceptions. This follows the general philosophy...

pg 278 under the critical hit table. "Rather then roll damage determine the maximum damage you can roll with your attack" Notice it does not say - "Rather then rolling the damage dice granted by the weapon made with the attack determine the maximum damage of the dice granted by the weapon made...

    I'm now confuzzled.

Oh come on. Thats a very diliberate misreading of the word 'source' imo. Two independant uses of the same power are clearly intended to be two different sources with regardes to the line on pg 294. Temporary hit points even those granted from the same power used at two different times do not...

    Sneak Attack + Critical Hit?

The power I believe you are refering to ( Assassin's Point ) says double any EXTRA damage from sneak attack or a critical. That would be extra critical dice you roll from a weapon being high crit or having a magical ability that applies extra rolled damage on a critical, this power would not...

    Encoutner vs. Daily Powers

If by one encounter per evening you mean one encounter per session, then thats fine, your characters do a lot of talking during short rest periods. If instead you mean one per in-game-day then thats something altogether different. 4e was balanced with multiple encounters between extended rests...

    You gain an action point

I think some people are reading the word MUST incorrectly. 'Must' imparts an imperative. An imperative, or a requirement, does not however grant an accompanying ability. Just because you must do something, doesn't mean you can do it. If I am bitten by a rattle snake I must get to a hospital...

    Skill Challenge success calculator

baudot the algorithm i posted will calculate the probability of success given a DC, number of successes required, number of failures allowed, and varying skill levels. Is that what you are asking for?

    Skill Challenge success calculator

The algorithm i presented should do this ( unless I'm misinterpreting what you are saying ). If however you just want to break out the fancy pants math ( and get the chance to earn geek cred by saying 'Markov chains' ) go for it, nobody is gonna stoping you :)

    Skill Challenge success calculator

The previous code snippet appears to be a dart thrower algorithm from a cursory glance. To be honest a dart thrower was the first thing I coded just to get a general idea, so I'm not saying anything derogatory besides the fact that its inaccurate and has a more complex implementation then the...

    Skill Challenge success calculator

The odds of a party, each of whose members have a skill of +9, completing a easy level 1 challenge of complexity 1 is: 63%. The odds of a party, each of whose members have a skill of +9, completing a easy level 1 challenge of complexity 2 is: 67%. :blink blink: So for easy challenges, the...
