D&D 5E How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

In answer to the OP, I don't think it can. I don't need another fantasy RPG as I already have enough. I don't even want another fantasy RPG, I'm quite satisfied with what I have. If 5e blows my socks off when it comes out I might think about buying it, but money's tight at the moment.

    D&D 5E Who's given up on D&D Next?

Ha! I beat you all; I'm giving up on 6e! An edition NO-ONE knows ANYTHING about. Bwahahahahahahaha!!!

Mike Mearls Answers Questions About "Dungeons and Dragons Next"

I quite agree. I found the flavour very unapetising ;)

Do you want/are you ready for a D&D 5th edition?

No. For the few occasions that I play D&D I have enough of my (heavily houseruled) 3.X material to last me for years. I don't need, or want, any more D&D materials.

3.5e/Pathfinder fans tell me what you think about essentials

Umbran's comment pretty much nailed why I won't play Essentials. I still play 3.X as I have houseruled and tweaked it to do what I want it to do. I didn't feel like spending money on Pathfinder.

In Defense of the Theory of Dissociated Mechanics

I have found this thread to be very interesting and most informative. I've finally managed to get my head round how things like 'trip' works in 4E. Particular thanks to Hussar for his clear summing up in his post I commented on.

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

I think one reason that this thread is, so far, 26 pages long, it that some people (me included), can no longer take whatever WotC says at face value. We have read what Mike Mearls wrote; we are trying to figure out what it means. If it means what it says, which I interpret as 'play whatever...

D&D 3.x gamers who skipped 4e, why are you not "upgrading" to Pathfinder?

I use a houseruled mix of 3.0 and 3.5 which does what I want it to do. I don't need another set of rules at the moment. Also, for me, D&D = Forgotten Realms. As Pathfinder uses its own world is another reason for me not to use it.

    non-4e D&D Players . . .

    No. Maybe 5e, we'll see.

non switchers: what can wotc do to win you back?

Just to be curious, what did you mean by this smiley? I'm a bit confused.

Former WotC Customers, would resuming pdf sales bring you back?

I voted no. Even if WotC started selling pdfs again I'd rather pick up the old stuff that I still haven't got in hardcopy from e-bay etc. Speaking purely personally, I don't like the way WotC does business now and I would rather not give them any of my money.

non switchers: what can wotc do to win you back?

I agree with this. D&D has gone in a new direction with 4e; it's not a direction I like, so WotC can go their way and I'll go mine.

D&D accused of being satans game.

D&D is WotC's game, not Satan's. He's been buying bank shares, not Hasbro ;)
