    When [W]eapon keyword exploits don't use a [W]?

Right, you all seem in agreement... go by the letter of the rule. What about magic weapons with special effects? Flavor-wise are "frost fists" or "vorpal fists" OK with you? What about "resounding roar" or "duelist's roar"?

    When [W]eapon keyword exploits don't use a [W]?

All Bets are Off and Lion of Battle are exploits that have "Weapon" as a keyword. They both start with a primary attack which utilizes the weapon in hand. They both conclude with a secondary attack which does not utilize the weapon in hand (i.e. a fist in the face and a roar.) The question...

The most damaging 4th edition attack by Class?

To be honest, I couldn't find any examples of push/pull powers being used on people on youtube. *sarcasm off* The examples of people running through fires without getting burned was to give you a real world basis for your reasoning. Plus you seem to have missed my mentioning of push/pulls...

    "Difficult space" and flight

The PHB states that flying creatures are not hampered by difficult terrain. But were they only thinking about certain types of difficult terrain? The examples given on page 284 seem only to include hindrances which are no higher than knee height (rubble, shallow bog, etc.) What about...

The most damaging 4th edition attack by Class?

I think you are intelligent enough to come up with a reason. A quick google search of people running through fire (youtube?) unscathed may aid in your reasoning. Plus push/pulls/slides have advantages that normal movement does not. This, of course, is assuming the kobold's ally can somehow...

The most damaging 4th edition attack by Class?

Correct! But I can see that it has the potential to disturb many people sensibilities. One could say: "You mean to say that you can get "pushed" into a Wall of Fire and sit there till an ally "pulls" you out and you take absolutely no damage? That makes no sense at all!" My reply: "Yes...

The most damaging 4th edition attack by Class?

Good point H-smurf, but we play wall of fire a little different than how you described above. We added an Attack: Int vs Ref to the power. There is then an attack roll for every creature in the zone for the initial casting. So then the power works just like many of the other zone powers...

The most damaging 4th edition attack by Class?

The way we play/will play Blood Pulse in our groups (3 games, 3 DMs) is that it only damages the target when the target moves during it's own turn. Pulling/pushing don't cause damage. How reasonable is that change? :p We've pretty much incorporated this change with all the wall spells too...

Spell Accuracy and persistent movable zone powers

A wizard casts cloudkill and omits the center square from the AoE using Spell Accuracy. Next round the wizard moves the cloudkill 3 squares due north. Does the omitted square stay stationary or does it move 3 squares due north as well?

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

The way we play blade barrier (or wall of fire) is that damage only occurs during the target's turn. So that a target will only be damaged if he starts his turn in a blade barrier, or enters the the blade barrier space(s) during his turn. Also, we count the whole space as a single "zone"...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Goumindong erroneously quoted Mongolia: Goumindong then proceeds to beat on Mongolia with a vengeance (post #268) Goumindong: My last relevant post to you is post #263, I never posted anything you quoted in #268 It's funny you mention COAD, an EvE-Online forum. It is people like you who...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Well this is what we know about Bolstering Blood: 1. It's a add-on damage effect (extra damage) which deals damage independent of the power thats its carrier, just like hunter's Quarry. 2. Because BB doesn't increase the inherent power of the spell (i.e. it's not a enhancement bonus), then it...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

But Goumindong said: "Not quite. Blood Pulse damages an enemy every for every square he leaves." (your post #230). Looks like separate damages... tastes like separate damages... smells like separate damages... Now you are saying damage from powers is instantaneous... so what does that do for...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

You are confusing "hits" with "damages". Again, Bolstering Blood does NOT damage on a "hit". So by your logic, a target under the influence of Blood Pulse and Bolstering Blood who is pushed 7 squares takes 14-140 damage (+2d10 BB damage for each square) since each square is a separate...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Wrong. There is no game mechanic that determines how many times a power deals damage. How many times can you "damage" a target with a single to-hit attack roll? Does a Blade Barrier damage a target with a single swipe or many little cuts and stabs? Does Frostburn (lvl 13 wizard) damage two...
  18. M

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Another point about Bolstering Blood. When a power "misses" and does half damage, Bolstering Blood still does it's full damage (instead of being halved with the damage roll).

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Tell you what, I'll require that that my cleric use his healing word thrice per encounter (using up 3x minor actions), the maximum he can use it. As a matter of fact, I'll track the total healing potential through the use of all the clerics powers, standards and minors throughout the whole...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

I understood what you meant originally, we basically run two separate encounter battles that take place in a single day. Therefore, daily attacks will be used only once between the two battles, unless you have an ability (like the archmage) that gets around that. Bolstering Blood makes no...
