Dungeon Crawler Carl is breaking crowdfunder records

Exactly. People have been asking about this on and off for a while. Plus (like Cosmere), you are also getting people that are backing it because they like the property and want to support it, or get all the official art, that sort of thing. Never discount the impact of appealing to whales.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is breaking crowdfunder records

huh, yeah. From what they have mentioned of combat (just a tiny bit in the video), that would be tricky since by default it goes NPCs Declare Actions > PCs Declare Actions > Simultaneous Resolution. So PvP would need to modify that.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is breaking crowdfunder records

From the little that they have shown in the video linked on the Backerkit, and in the preview docs on the Backerkit, it's not doing anything crazy, mechanically speaking, but it's not just a D&D clone with one or two changes, which I am very happy about. d20 + Stat Modifier + Skill ranks vs. a...

    Crows Officially Announced by MCDM

Yeah, some people seem borderline rabid for it

    Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter Club

It seems to be at least themed like that - the same stats, the same skills and spells, has classes and races and elements to create your own (which is really the only way to have the insane number of options), even has a mechanic for the hotbar that the characters have and currying favor with...

One big thing that I don't think anyone mentioned is that everyone that purchased the Heroes book in Hardcover from MCDM already (or before April 1)? They get it for free (provided they redeem the code in a timely fashion). Only got the pdf? You get it for half-off (again, provided that you...

I agree with CommodoreKong - Heroes is all a player needs, if they want a book. But Steel Compendium, Forge Steel, or other resources are also out there if you just want to take a peak.

I think the biggest thing with that is the tokens for Monsters - that is a huge boon. And the Delian Tomb is nice too. I am also wondering that if these do well, if this means it might be the path forward to have official modules for the non-open supplements like Summoner, if they don't ever...

    What's happening with exodus?

Yeah, what? I've been keeping an eye out for Exodus-related things, but last I heard, everything is on track for the video game for next year, and the TTRPG later this year (though apparently it's just a 5e mod, so whatever interest I might have had for that is gone).

Ah, my bad. I was assuming (and honestly hoping) that it was being counted as being funded by the Backerkit, so that Encounters is open when it is released, like Heroes and Monsters are.

There's no one class or mechanic that covers all of these things. As zakael19 mentioned, a lot of these are built into the various classes like a Censor's Sense for Truth, or a Void Elementalist creating portals across the world, a Stormwright Fury's ability to speak with animals that they take...

That actually kinda makes sense - if you find enjoyment from looking at tremendous amounts of character build options to find the numerically best ones, a game that has a far more focused list of abilities and does a pretty good job at minimizing the gap between a non-optimal and optimal build...

Live now! Draw Steel: Crack the Sun.

Yeah, I was a little bit surprised when I saw the goal, because I am so used to significantly smaller goals for RPG crowdfunding, but after watching some of Matt's explanations it made sense, and hey, clearly wasn't a ridiculously out of reach number. And he had said that MCDM would also be...

Looking for Draw Steel extended play review

Yeah, that's not really a concern - the book outright mentions ways to tweak advancement, like CommodoreKong mentions. Adjusting the amount of XP, or just using Milestone leveling (in which case, Victories become more of a pacing tool) are explicitly called out in the book. And both Montages...

You could always split them up, have each player have their own mini-pool, if people are afraid of being selfish, and they can just also spend them on their allies' actions, so you still have a teamwork aspect to it.

A toggle to turn on "strict rules-as-written" mode, like AdmundfortGeographer suggested would be a good way to stop that, but I will say those examples feel more like a group culture/player trust issue, than a Codex issue. And I don't mean that as an attack on your group! Just that it is...
