A goblin, lightly clad dashes out and is suddenly armored. His long fingers work the purple Emperor's banner off of the standard pole. Atrius' assault leaves a warhound bleeding out in the gravel. Caged Fury moves lithely through the snarly packs and his comrades, but is unable to connect with any attacks.

The two remaining packs bear down on the cluster of combatants, ignoring the lanky goblin. The two packs snap and snarl at Atrius landing vicious bites on the half-elf.

With each dying yelp and each vicious bite the crowd roars.

OOC: Atrius takes 21 pts. Map updated. Rodeh is up.

"I'll deal with you later, stupid dogs, but you'd betta not ferget this face!" Rodeh shouts in dwarven to the nearest dog pack. He turned his head slightly during his own attack to notice that he comrades were now being attacked by their own packs of dogs. That was their first mistake. On second thought, their first mistake was being born. This was their second mistake.

Side- stepping his own personal runts and putting his sword against his body, he throws the might of his arms directly behind a brutal shield bash, hoping to push the dogs backward. Then, turning with swiftness that is uncanny to most dwarves, he extends his arms forward again, trying to push the other hounds away from him. He is too busy collecting dog hides for his collection to notice a small green goblin scurry near him and grab a flag.

{OOC:
Minor : Mark Dog Pack 4 (-2 to attacks that do not include Rodeh)
Move : Shift to M13
Standard : Thundering Ram Assualt: Primary Target is Dog Pack 1: 30 vs. AC. 13 damage if hits, and target is pushed back 3 squares (in opposite direction from where Rodeh ends his turn, please). Secondary Attacks target Dog Pack 2 and 3 in Close Blast 3: 22 (DP2) and 24 (DP3) vs AC. 11 Damage if hits, and each target is pushed 1 square in opposite direction from Rodeh please.

Misc: If Dog Pack 4 makes an attack that does not include Rodeh as the target, he uses Warden's Grasp and slide's the target one square opposite Rodeh's direction and the target is slowed. [Note: Warden's Grasp is not an attack, it is an immediate reaction effect]}

The crowd's roar is like the thunder of Rodeh's attack - the Warden's shieldwork throws several packs howling and yelping away. More bodies litter the gravel slope. The one pack that wasn't tossed by Rodeh's steely shield leaps at Atrius and meets, instead, the Warden's bramble shield which unfurls in thorny spiral between Atrius and pack as it lunges for the bloody bard. The lattice of twisted woody branches flexes with their impact and the pack rebounds a short distnace away, scrambling to to keep footing, confused and wary. They circle counter clockwise around, heads low, deep ripping growls in their throats... hate in their beady animal eyes.

Another pack lunges for the beleagured bard and scores bites on his arms and legs.

OOC: Rodeh gets 3 temporary HP for attacking Pack 3.

Round 2! Pack 4 attacks Atrius and is thrown back. Pack 3 attacks Atrius for 9pts. Atrius is bloodied (noted on the map by an underline).

Map is updated. Pirx is up.

Were it not for the dogs, Pirx would be tying the Emperor's banner around his neck like a cape, and dancing away back to the recesses of the amphitheatre's underbelly. He has what he wanted, after all. But the dogs are coming fast, and perhaps he can help. He raises his bow, and reaches for not one but two arrows.

Time for a trick shot, he says to himself, as he hears someone in the crowd remember his name -- "Look! It's Pirx!". there is always delight in moments like this.

The goblin holds himself up to his full height, for the first time in days, a long lanky arm arching over in an exaggerated wave to the assembled thousands, the emperor's banner flowing behind the limb like a sail on a giant windmill.

A quick glance reveals one pack mauling the dwarf, and another heading towards him. Pirx is cocky, and confident, and high on adrenaline. He knocks his bow, crosses his eyes, and releases, letting out a triumphant yell, as the arrows hit both packs, going through one dog, into another, and through him into another, out of sight.

{OOC:
Move: As needed, Move will be used to stow the banner and/or draw the bow.
Minor : Designate Dog Pack at M10 as quarry (+1d6 damage)
Standard : Split the Tree (daily 1): Fires two arrows at targets within three squares of each other (M10 and N12), roll to hit twice and use the highest roll for both attacks. Two attacks at +13: Highest is 33 (natural 20! crit!) vs. AC. Damage then is 2d8+5+d8 (for crit) on Dog Pack at N12, 2d8+5+d8 (for crit) +d8 (for quarry) on pack at M10. oops

(okay, sorry for that: I told the dice roller to roll twice because there were two damage rolls. The first result that comes up does 12 to N12, 18 to M10. If you prefer to use the second, it does 23 to N12, 16 to M10. If you want me to reroll altogether, use these: 15 to N12, 27 to M10. Since it was my mistake, use whatever damage result you think is right.

In any case, I presume the arrows hit, and that some damage is done.

Misc: Will use Goblin tactics if attacked.

Thanks for your patience everyone, esp. Sparky.

(No worries, KS. Also, for damage - a crit automatically maxes all damage dice. I didn't see Lethal Hunter on your feats so Quarry damage is d6.)

Arrows fly, the hiss of the fletching barely registers through the red mad haze of the dogs' growing fury. More dogs drop, with the arrows of the univited standing tall from their wounded sides.

The growling chorus of hate continues. The crowd chants. A cloud slides across the sun and the coolth is a relief, but the sudden dimness chills.

Atrius is up. Map updated.

Atrius winces as teeth bite into his flesh. His chest runs slick with his own blood, and he staggers under the assault. But his allies give him strength. A small space opens, a little bit of breathing room. Enough for his to find his focus again. A wry grin splits his face as he mutters to himself.

"C'mon, man. They can smell fear. Stand strong."

His own words lend him the fortitude to stand straight again, and he takes a deep breath, brandishing his blade in front of him. They're just animals, time to make them realize who is in charge. His chest tightens as air fills his lungs. Reaching deep into something primal, he sweeps his arms wide and lets forth a deep throated roar, reminding the dogs and the crowd what true power is. Power rolls forth, pushing at the dogs, and drawing his allies together.

ooc:
Minor: majestic word on himself, recovers 18 hp
Standard: Shout of Triumph vs. Dog Pack 2 and 3 (26, 25 vs Fort ; 12 thunder damage ; push them 3 squares on hit. I also get to slide Caged Fury 3 squares, I guess. But unless Walking Dad has somewhere he needs to be, I think I'll leave him put.

(forgot, Pirx gets 3 temporary HP, Atrius too)

Atrius's roar echoes off of the stands even with the clamor of the crowd. It rebounds again and again a thundering rumble of power. The dogs are thrown back, skidding in the gravel, howling in pain. One pack is down to just two battered dogs. The whimpering packs shake off Atrius' assault and refocus themselves on the group.

Caged Fury is up. Map updated.

Fury's swift feet carry him up to and past the Andrian battle standard, which he grabs enroute to the dog pack attacking from Atrius's flank. He makes a furious assault on the dogs, but wariness has crept in through the red haze of rage and they manage to stay clear of the lightning assault.

Despite the half-elf's blood still wetting their muzzles, the dogs concentrate their attacks on the doughty dwarf. The viscious concerted attack draws blood in a half-dozen foam and saliva slick gashes.

(Rodeh takes 12pts (was 15, -3 for temp HP). Rodeh is up. Map updated.))
