[Adventure] A Boy and His Dog (DM: stonegod; Judge: r1)

pathfinderq1

First Post
Johanna shuffled her feet just a bit, trying to get traction in the swampy ground. Then she stabbed forward with her spear again, punching through the tentacle's slimy hide...

[sblock= OOC]
>If it is possible to shift closer to T5 (1 square diagonally NE, but map doesn't have side coordinates), Johanna will do so, and use a free action to mark T5 with Nature's Wrath. If she cannot shift due to terrain type, she will stay where she is and use weapon reach to attack.
>Standard: attack T5 with Howling Strike, +8 vs. AC= 27 (hit, for 14 damage) ; roll Roll Lookup

Vimak curses as he prepares for close combat, using his anger for strength. Torqua tries to rile the troops, but this time the tentacles are ready, and dodge the worst of the flame. Johanna plunges at the tentacles, and while she hit is hard, the writhing goo distracts her.

[Vimak swaps weapons and spends Second Wind. Torqua misses. Johanna shifts, marks, and hits, but grants CA so long as she is in the goo (green squares).]

From the back, the drow manages to score the tentacles with his chaos magic, seriously debilitating them. Sapo uses the moment to slip under the writhing mass and strike out, her rapid blows pulping the remaining.

Lhavarr bravely approaches the final mass, but slowly.

[Elkrysn shifts out of threat range; hits for 16hp. T5 bloodied. Sapo uses power to shift 2 and attack; hits and drops T5; grants CA. Lhavarr moves & shifts.]

The remaining mass strikes out blindly. Feeling the bardent approach it lashes out, grabbing him easily and crushing.

[Lhavarr hit for 12 and grabbed.]

With the only remaining tentacle already occupied, Johanna rushed forward, attempting to stab it with her spear. She stepped quickly into position, driving the spear forward with all her strength- then she drew the weapon back and gave a triumphant shout as she jabbed again. Her second strike was not nearly as effective...

[sblock= OOC]
-Since the tentacle already has someone grabbed, Johanna will risk the threatening reach (and if it drops Lhavarr to grab her, that is fine too).

With only one tentacle, Torqua takes a step back to get into a better firing spot. Chanting a magical spell, the fat sorceress' veins glow with a fearsome green light, until she fires a giant bolt of acid out of her arm.

The Stone Breaks Round 5

Between the efforts of Johanna and Torqua, the last tentacle is destroyed. A piercing shriek fills the air, but it is worse in the mind! The purple shell around the Dog-Thing breaks, and it regards you with an evil glare from its now many eyes!

The dog thing slides forward, slurping over the corpses of the fallen tentacle things and other aberrations, gaining size with each. With a gurgling moan-bark, it slams at Lhavaar and Vimak incoherently. Lhavarr barely manages to dodge the first grab with a former tentacle, while Vimak beats back some claws of the smaller aberrant things. But its many claws and mouths continue to snap at those nearby.

[The Once-Dog-Thing appears, moves, and attacks Vimak & Lhavarr: Both miss. The Once-Dog-Thing starts the encountered bloodied due to partially successful skill check. It is large, but has no reach. It does have an damaging aura for those adjacent.]

Vimak Stonecarver

Vimak takes a step to include Lhavarr and Johanna in his protective aura, before making a rune-boosted swing to further diminish the dog's offense capabilities.

[sblock=ooc]

move: shift to k17
standard: Word of Diminishment (Protection) (1d20+9=19, 1d10+7=9) hit AC 19 for 9 damage. On a hitm the target also takes a -3 penalty to damage until the end of Vimak's next turn.

Johanna stepped forward, and jabbed at the creature with her spear. While she was unable to land a solid blow, she kept up a pattern of distracting near-misses, attempting to keep the creature's attention focused on her instead of her more fragile companions...
