Kasha follows after the retreating construct, hot on the heels of Frost and Shrakk. "Heads up!" she calls out, grabbing another dagger from her boot sheathe and looking for a clear line of sight to the construct. Shrakk beats her to it though, and she shields her eyes from the ensuing blast as he dispatches their last foe.

[sblock=OOC]Crossposted with Ottakun, post now edited to make sense. These rolls were made for the defunct post.[/sblock]

Skrakk plants his fullblade in the construct's head at the same time Kasha's dagger strikes it. It promply detonates, Shrakk and Frost once again avoiding the blast.

[sblock=Crystal Detonation]Close Blast 3: 7 Fort vs Shrakk, miss, 16 Fort vs Frost, miss.[/sblock]

The combat ends, RAM TIGER is quickly stabilized, and the group gets a chance to rest and explore the cave.

[sblock=Final Status]Shrakk: J13, 11 damage taken
RAM TIGER: K13, 27 damage taken, bloodied, unconscious
Kasha: I13, 13 damage taken, bloodied
Frost: K12, 15 damage taken
Seros: M11, 3 damage taken[/sblock]

[sblock=Healing]People can spend as many surge+4 heals as they want thanks to Seros. Also, anyone's surges can be spent to fuel these. I'm not sure how many surges everyone has left either, but it looks like Frost and Seros aren't coming along for the rest of the adventure, so perhaps they could "donate" a couple surges each. We'll assume they'll stay behind and guard the cave entrance.[/sblock]

"Whew..." Kasha pants breathlessly, managing to pull out a crooked grin of victory once the fight is over and RAM TIGER is in stable condition. "These things sure are pests. I don't know how many more things I can take exploding in my face today."

Gratefully she accepts one of Seros's healing mixtures and gulps it down, some of her cocky buoyancy visibly returning as she passes back the empty vial. She moves over to sift through the wreckage of the detonated constructs, hoping to find her daggers in useable condition.

"Hmph. No sign of a workshop yet, and who knows how many more of these bloody things will be swarming all over it when we do find it. And what are we even s'posed to do when we find it? That damn note didn't make anything clear. Shoulda taken the two hundred coins, thrown the crew overboard, and sailed for Bacarte."

Grumbling finished, she peers into the gloomy tunnel ahead. "You lot ready? We might as well get moving. Shrakk, how are those eyes of yours in this darkness? Can you scout ahead without a light? If not, we may as well go as a group."

[sblock=Healing]Kasha will certainly take 1 surge to get her to 18/22 hp. If there are more spares coming from Seros or Frost, she may as well take 1 more to top her off.[/sblock]

There is a tunnel leading onward at the back of the cave. Frost's sunrod still sits on the ground where it was dropped in the midst of the fight. The tunnel seems to lead into a large room, though how large it is hard to tell from here.

[sblock=OOC]We'll give it a couple days to see who all is here and let everyone heal up, then we'll have whoever that may be continue on.[/sblock]

RAM TIGER groggily rises to his feet and stumbles around before examining the battlefield. He sniffs the smoking craters that were once his opponents then suddenly grabs the sunrod in his jaws and bounds down the dark hallway, growling very un-stealthy-like.

Frost and Seros say they are going to stay back, unsure about continuing on after what they faced out here.

RAM TIGER bounds off, heedless, Kasha and Shrakk hurrying to catch up. The hallway isn't long and a minute later the group finds themselves in a smaller room. Lining the sides are design-carved pedestals about three feet tall. Before you is a smooth marble door in an archway. The door seems to have no immediately discernible method of opening. But there must be some way...

PedestalRoom.jpg

[sblock=Perception 15]The pedestals each have 10 small, round, shallow, flat depressions in them a bit more than an inch across. [sblock=Insight 20]The depressions are about the size of coins.[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=Thievery 15]The door mechanism seems to be somehow tied tot he pedestals.[sblock=Thievery 20]There are 10 small, round, shallow depressions in each pedestal with tiny, precise mechanisms lining the sides of each depression. Some object is apparently supposed to be placed in the depressions.[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=Athletics 20]That door isn't going to budge - it's amazingly heavy, the sides are flush with the stone wall, and there's nothing to grab onto on it.[/sblock]

[sblock=Arcana 12]There doesn't seem to be anything magical about this room.[/sblock]

[sblock=Kasha]We'll assume Frost donates a surge to top Kasha off.[/sblock]

RAM TIGER charges the doorway headfirst, attempting to smash through! When that doesn't work he takes his claws to the door, marring the marble with scratch marks and creating a horrendous sound but otherwise gaining no progress. He'll do this for the next forty-five minutes to an hour or until something distracts him. SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH...

Kasha's first instinct is to beware of any mechanical or magical traps that might be linked to the heavy door if the opening mechanism isn't properly handled, but RAM TIGER's headlong assault upon it quickly gives the lie to that theory. Shrugging, she crouches down and begins to pore over the pedestals for signs of their function, doing her best to block out the hideous screecing noise of the gnoll's claws.

Her forbearance quickly proves insufficient, and soon she's adding her angry yells to the cacophanous racket. "I'M TRYING TO CONCENTRATE YOU FLEA-RIDDEN MONGREL, CAN YOU KEEP IT DOWN?"

Happily it doesn't seem like the loss of composure hurts her work any, and soon she's found the small depressions in the pedestals which she points out to Shrakk in between bursts of invective directed at RAM TIGER. "See? Some kind of mechanism in the sides, like maybe it will release the lock when the slots are filled with the right objects, like keys. Or maybe it'll fill the chamber with molten lava or something, whatever. Either way it should shut the gnoll up. But the question is, what goes in the holes?"

[sblock=OOC] Thievery 1d20+11=27

So, a total of 120 depressions? Can we get a bit more information on their size? I take it we haven't seen anything along the way that seems to fit... 120 small keystone-ish objects would have been a hard find to miss.[/sblock]
