[Adventure]: Turning the Tide (DM: Dimsdale, Judge ??)

The party moves forward taking the path leading down. It is harder to see now (dim light now) as the glowing moss that was so prevalent in the main corridor is more spars the farther down the path goes. Soon it flattens out and continues forward for another 500 feet until it ends with rubble filling most of the passageway. There is a 3 foot opening at the top of the rubble in which someone can climb to take a closer look at what is behind the rubble. The smell is almost unbearable here, obviously coming from what is behind the rubble.

You can see a large cave, stretching as far as your eyes can see. The ceiling is heigh, about 30 feet in most places. At one point there is an opening in the ceiling roughly 20 feet from the ground. It looks like a shaft of some sort. Flickering light from the shaft help you to see. The first thing that draws your attention are the mounds scattered about the floor. You can tell that they are humanoid corpses of different sizes and shape. There level of decomposition varies as well. Some are a pile of bones and tattered cloth or bits of leather or metal. Others are still fresh, for lack of a better word. These corpses have strange round, slightly elliptical white rocks on the top of them. You'll have to take a closer look to tell exactly what they are. This is obviously the source of the stench.

Farther in the back of the room it is much more difficult to see, but every so often you hear echoing throughout the cave what sounds like the shifting of rock as if it is being moved, but you cannot tell what is causing it. You can tell that it is coming from more than one source.

Map Note: everyone is currently behind the rubble.

"Hmmm..." Eva mutters as she puzzles over the situation. "It sounds like a cave-in, right? Rocks fell and everyone died."

"It's so strange that the rocks are still falling in the back. But I have a feeling if we stay away from the active cave-in, we'll be alright."

Eva begins to walk toward the rubble, but she only makes it a few steps before stopping and turning back to face the party. "Although... there could be another ooze or tentacle monster over there. The last cave I went in was just riddled with them." The elf looks to Graven, waiting for him to go first.

As Eva and Graven decide their next move, they begin to here a strange noise fro the cave. Both climb to the top to inspect what is going on and discover that the noise is coming from the open shaft in the ceiling. The more they listen to the sound, Eva quickly recognizes that it is a chant of some type of ritual. Soon the sound of drums can be heard echoing in the cave, follow by an increase in volume and tempo of the chant. As this continues a huge creature appears from the other side of the cave, moving slowly to the center of the cave, just below the opening of the shaft. It then lifts it huge head upward as if it is waiting for something to happen. The creature is not disappointed as at the height of the chanting and thunderous sounds of beating drums, the noise suddenly stops. There is a loud scream, followed by something falling through the shaft. Another scream erupts for the shaft, followed by someone falling from the shaft to the floor. The person rolls a few feet on the rock floor before stopping, dazed and prone. The monstrosity immediately directs his attention to the fallen victim and starts moving slowly towards her.

OOC: Glad to be here, thanks for having me. Don't worry about Merri, she's sweet. You know, for a vampire.

"Ow! Ow! Well that bloody well hurt, you big meanies!!"

The damsel slowly stands to her feet, looking quite wobbly and about to fall back over. You can tell immediately that she's a young human, probably in her teenage years. She is wearing heavy clothing and her traveling cloak has fallen back revealing her young face. The only thing she has on her is her clothing and belt pouch.

More impressive than her appearance are the emotions rolling off of her. Anger, worry, and fear emanate out from her like a beacon of emotion. Still dazed from the fall, she doesn't see the danger in the cavern just yet.

Still holding her head, you hear her mutter, "I mean seriously, who throws people in pits anyway?"
