Okay, I just sent Bill the reformatted text files. As soon as I have them back from development in PDF format, I'll pick one to post as a sample. :)

In the meantime, I'll start the teasing with a Table of Contents. I imagine you'll recognize most of the names of people involved. ;)

I personally am very pumped for this book. I also can't wait for WotC's Magic Item Compendium.

Hey, Captain. Thanks for the kind words. :)

Anyone else, I'm happy to field any questions you may have on the Tome of Artifacts (within the limits fo what I can reasonably say before the book is out, of course).

Just an odd comment, neither pro nor con, but that "Petrified God" of yours makes me think something like "Just add water!" It also makes me think that's not a good thing.

I'll be interested to see the book. I don't really use many (like practically none) of the (major) artifacts that have been written up since 1E. Still, I like the idea of having some unique artifacts to my world. I'll be extremely happy if this book makes for good inspiration.

Are the artifacts major, minor, or a bit of both?

Every artifact listed in the ToC is a major artifact. However...

Almost every artifact entry includes some sort of D20 "goody" that is somehow related to the artifact itself. Some are new monsters or NPCs, some are magic items, some are new spells, some are new feats, and a few are minor artifacts. So there will be a couple of those, as well.

(These "goodies" are the reason for Appendix C, incidentally. We didn't want people to have to flip back and forth or try to remember "Now which artifact had the new magic weapon traits?" Appendix C gives page numbers for 'em.)

Hunh. "Goodies". That's a good idea. I never would even LOOK at it if it were just major artifacts.

I'm a little curious... is the "Bastard of Exalted Heroism" like, Tom Cruise?

Neat- I didn't know this was coming out already.

Well, not quite yet. Late this year, as I understand it.

But people over on the Necromancer boards asked for teasers, so I complied. ;)

We'll be releasing samples and more information as the release date draws nearer.

Yep, that's it exactly. ;)

It's actually a bastard sword, of course. But... Well, let's just say there's a reason most people leave out the word "sword" when talking about this particular artifact.

...really? Cuz - and I'm an uneducated ruffian, here - it kind of looks like a typo, and a designer covering up for the editors.

;)
