Drowquest [4e] Raiding the Road (Hiatus)

Rantyr mutters some dark words in a darker language, and his eyes turn the color of pitch.. Bolts of darkness flash from his pupils straight at the newly undead, ripping Rantyr's image from whatever remnants of Caliban's mind survived the transition to undeath.

OOC: Minor - apply curse. Standard - Eyebite hits Will 19 for 10 main damage and 2 curse damage total = 12 damage, and Rantyr becomes invisible to Caliban until start next turn.

Nashquiri attempts to back away from the abomination, but finds himself pressed against the cavern wall already. With nowhere to fall back to, the wizard finds himself in the unenviable position of being too close for comfort.

He points his blackened staff at Caliban, hoping to attack its mind (or what's left of it) and create an illusory distraction for the undead. After his attempt, Nashquiri attempts to see if any more undead are coming down their hand-dug tunnel.

As the body of Caliban begins reaching for the others stuck within this chamber, Javilex gulps in a bit of shock. This is the first time he's ever faced the walking dead, and palid, vacant stare of Caliban unnerves him a little. But he recognizes the zombie as his quarry (Hunter's Quarry), and rather than get himself involved, he looks upwards and gives a quick whistle, which sends the spider scurrying across the wall and down, hanging in front of the prone undead. It then quickly snaps forward to attempt to bite the zombie. (Bite attack +5; 1d8+3+1d8 quarry)

Shocked slightly at the rapid transformation of thier patrol leader, Drisdhaun snaps his sword out and plunges it ito Calibans head.

Viper Strike 22 vs Ac; 9 Damage Effect: If the target shifts before the start of your next turn, it provokes an opportunity attack from an ally of your choice.

Round 1: Undead Caliban.

Saereth crawls across the wall to perch above the body, biting it and sucking away at what remains of its fluids. 1d20+5 =22, 2d8+3=12
The faint figures appear at Nashquari's call seem ineffective.
Vorgrym feints with his sword, and drives his shorter dagger home.
Rantyrs black bolts have the creature shuddering.
Drisdaun’s sword partially fixes Caliban in place.

Caliban draws his venom soaked rapier, and stabs at Vorgrym but is parried by the tempest's dagger. His claw lashes out at the spider but now off balance, he misses with that strike as well. (AC 15 vs Vorgrym, 13 vs Spider.)

OOC: yes its still the same encounter.

(MISS) Nashquari 20

With little options available in such a tight space, the wizard Nashquiri once again attempts to assault the remnants of their former leader's mind.

As the undead Caliban lashes out with a claw at the spider, Vorgyrm retaliates with his short blade.

[sblock=Combat Challenge Interrupt]Take my interrupt for Caliban attacking the spider. 16 to hit(including CA for being prone). 10 damage. Roll Lookup
[/sblock]

Vorgyrm thrusts his blades into the their former superior attempting to end the threat once and for all. Both blades find purchase in the dead flesh. The lack of any blood pumping out is still disturbing to the blademaster.

[sblock=Actions]Dual Strike again. Mark him too. 29 and 22 to hit. 5 and 4 damage. Roll Lookup
[/sblock]

Cloud of Darkness(minor; encounter)✦Close Burst 1
Effect: The burst creates a cloud of darkness that remains in place until the end of Vorgrym's next turn. The cloud blocks line of sight, squares within are totally obscured and creatures within are blinded until they exit. Vorgrym is immune to these effects.
Darkfire(minor; encounter) ✦Range 10; 1 creature

Without regrets or second thoughs, Djaar shifts in a slightly more advantageous position and thrusts his dagger in the back of the undead's neck.

[sblock=actions]not sure about the relative positions. If Djaar can shift into flank or get CA someway, he will. Here's the attack with CA and without: Piercing Strike 18 vs Ref, 15 dmg, w/o CA 16 vs Ref, 8 dmg[/sblock]

OOC: no interrupt for attacking spider, as Vorgyrm was included as a target of the power.
Caliban is prone, so CA is assured. Although it has a soft corner that provides cover from Djaar. You can move into the tunnel, or onto the rockfall, but its difficult terrain, and may create other problems.
so 16 ref, 15 damage on hit.
