Round 1

The goblin riders sweep in towards the caravan. The wolves slow as their riders shift their weight and heft their javelins in preparation to throw.

The first goblin rider never gets the chance. It gets within 30 feet of the caravan when lightning arcs between it and Kaddok. The goblin jerks and howls. He keeps his seat, but drops his javelin.

Ather looses off an arrow then he drops back towards the caravan. It flies true, striking another goblin. Ather takes up a position along side the first caravan.

The goblins sweep past the caravan, launching their javelins. They clatter against the side of the wagons, or 'swoosh' overhead. All but one miss their intended targets. That one strikes Kaddok squarely [1]. The goblins howl and whoop as the head off in the direction the caravan came from.

Brottor watches as the goblins begin to bank to their right, taking them past the wagons. A javelin passes somewhere roughly in his direction, but not even close enough to require the raising of his shield. As the goblins sweep past, some 30 feet away, the warrior makes a decision. He charges, catching the last goblin a telling blow with his sword.

Alton whirls and lets go with his sling at the departing riders, striking one in the back.

Zarpox launches an eldrich bolt at the passing goblins. It strikes, illuminating the creature for a moment with tendrils of energy.

Humbar barks orders at his drivers. "Keep 'em calm. Steady 'em Roth!"

The bullocks, having caught the scent of the wolves and their riders, snort and shift in their harnesses. The drivers, Roth and Heik have their hands full keeping them under control. Meanwhile, Humbar and Winison scramble to grab the small heavy crossbows and prepare them.

[sblock=ooc][1] Kaddok - 3 hp damage.

Goblin 1, 7 hp damage
Goblin 2, 5 hp damage
Goblin 3, 3 hp damage
Goblin 6, 9 hp damage

The goblins swept in from 9 o'clock and swept past and away at 6 o'clock. Now about 40 - 50 feet behind the last wagon, they are increasing their pace and beginning to bank around to their left (circling around for another go?) The goblins won't be able to do anything from that range, so the PC's will have the next round to themselves.[/sblock]

Smiling, Zarpox get off the wagon, falichon in hand. He let the blade, rest in his shoulder, as he speaks words of demons. Suddenly, a magical darkness appears between the caravan and the group of goblins. Hopefully, this will make them run away in fear. If not, and they decide to charge past them, he will try to cut one of the with his falichon, channeling his Hideous blow.
"These maggots are doom." he says, in a low tone.

Kaddok grunts as he ignores the wound. He singnals Fang (his wolf companion) to take down the goblin that has hurt him, before he throws another Lightning Arc, waiting for the melee to come to him.

[sblock=ooc]Attack 16 touch, damage 6 (Lightning Arc)
if melee
Attack 18, damage 14 (Earth breaker)

Fang has normal wolf stats.
Bite +3 melee (1d6+1) (should I roll for the wolf or the DM?)[/sblock]

Brottor steps towards Kaddock, takes a knee, places his sword by his leg, then grabs the javelin that glanced off of Kaddok. He readies it and prepares to launch it at the nearest of goblins if and when they come out from Zarpox's spell of darkness.

If the javelin is unusable, Brottor will defend the nearest unarmored ally with his shield and prepare to strike again with his sword in case a goblin comes close.

Ather takes advantage of the nearby cart and the magical darkness. He moves beneath the cart and attempts to hide from the circling goblins, the better to pick one off next time they come close. [sblock=ooc] attempt to use the cart to hide, stealth +8 for an 18, then ready to attack any goblin who rides within 30' of the cart, attack roll 14, damage 2, +3 if the hide was successful and he gets his sneak attack. Alton, worried about being in the closest wagon to the goblins, backs up to get as far away from the Goblins as possible without leaving the wagon. He then turns, and with a wave of his hand, launches a white ball of force toward one of the goblins, which strikes without fail.

[sblock=OOC]
Move action to back of wagon, and launches a Magic Missile at a goblin, which does 4 damage.

Round 3, 4, 5 and 6

From beyond the darkness the characters hear snarling, shouting and the sounds of an animal in pain. The fight lasts some dozen heartbeats. Then there is silence.

Another dozen heartbeats later, six indistinct shapes emerge from around the back of the inky blackness. As they get closer, they get marginally easier to see. The six wolves and their goblin riders. They close with the last wagon, moving in a loping run. But they don't appear to be in a hurry. They fan out, splitting into two groups about fifty feet apart, and slow down. But they are still moving much faster than the wagons, and continue to steadily close the gap.

Round 7

The goblins get to fifty feet from the back of the last wagon then throw their javelins. Four of them come to down harmlessly. But Zarpox is struck [1], and so is Kaddok once more [2].

Realising that the goblins are coming no closer, those that can act.

Ather shoots. It feels true, but its hard to follow the last of the flight in the poor light. He hears a cry of pain. If it gets any darker, its going to get harder to hit. If? When.

Brottor hurls the javelin he has scrounged. Its the wrong size for the dwarf, and wobbles off to bounce off the ground some 20 feet short.

Alton casts. The bolt of energy flies across the open space and it received with a shout of pain.

Once the goblins have hurled their javelins, they turn sharply once more and swing away from the wagons. It looks like they are going around again.

Roth hawks up and spits noisily off the side of the cart. "This ain't natural, this aint. Not even for gobbo's. They is up to something."

"Just keep 'em moving Roth," growls Humbar, doing his best to sound unconcerned.

[sblock=ooc]1. Zarpox suffers 4 damage.
2. Kaddok suffers 2.
WD - you indicated range 30 feet for LA in the last post, so I am going off that. I've rolled for the wolf for this time.
Everyone - Crunchy bits please - range, duration, area of effect as well as damage. If it is core stuff I can look it up, otherwise I just have to make it up.

Winison is on the back wagon, Humbar the front. They are both up on the front bench of their wagons beside the drivers.[/sblock]

"You will pay for this, goblin-dogs!" Kaddok growls. He moves toward the nearest goblin to roast him with a Lightning Arc.
Afterwards he shouts: "Hey, Humbar! Any problem to drive the caravan in a fog?"

[sblock=ooc]I will use my old roll. Your post indicates I haven't used it yet.

Attack 16 touch, damage 6 (Lightning Arc) reach 30 ft.

If the nearest goblin is more than 60 ft (movement + arc reach) away, he will move next to the caravan and cast bless instead.[/sblock]

Well, darkness is like the wizard spell spell of the same name. About the hideous blow, it channels an eldrich blast through the weapon, so it deals aditional 1d6 damage to the falichons 2d6, with the normal attack roll. Could I use my last roll like WD? [/sblock]

Kaddok said:
"Hey, Humbar! Any problem to drive the caravan in a fog?"

Humbar looks a Kaddok for a moment, nonplussed by the question. Understanding slowly dawns.

"No, so long as the beast can see where to put their feet," responds Humbar after a moments thought. "More worried about our ability to see where we are going. And keep together though. How far can you see in this 'fog'?"
