Ather looks into the night, trying to pick out the goblin spellcasters. If he sees one he fires an arrow at it, hopefully from hiding so that he gets his sneak attack bonus.

[sblock=ooc] Initiative 16, stealth +8, attack +5, damage 1d6 (+1d6 with SA) [/sblock]

Zarpox Termen // 26/29 HP // AC: 17 // In: +2 // Will: +2 Fort and ref: +3

Zarpox looks at his sides. Goblins, goblins everywhere! "If they can't see beyond their hands, they shall cast no spell on us! Hear my call, lords of darkness, there shall be no light where my gaze is placed!" the warlock conjures, and a sphere of magical darkness engulf the goblins on the other side of the cart.

Use Darkness on the other side, for not spoiling Kaddoks light.

Brottor is busy counting the odds against them and considering surrender when his companions begin their casting. "Very well, then. If we are to die..."

He grimaces and turns to the goblins straight ahead, firing a bolt from his crossbow. After that shot, he'll drop his crossbow and draw his sword.

Alton, 27/27 HP, 13 AC, Init 4

Well, damn, Alton thinks, seeing the Goblin rise up in ambush. Hearing his friends choose to fight, rather than surrender (specifically, Zarpox), Alton tosses his Thunderstone at to the force of goblins without Zarpox's darkness engulfing them, and then quickly drops down to grab his sling.

[sblock=OOC]Attack action to throw Thunderstone 60 feet away with -6 penalty (4 range, 2 darkness) at square between any two goblins. Move action to retrieve sling.

6 on Will save (natural 1), 4 on Initiative. Attack roll of 8 against AC of 5 for the square aimed at.

[sblock=Thunderstone]Deafens anything in a 10 foot radius who can't make the DC 15 Fortitude save. Deafened creatures take a -4 penalty on initiative and have a 20% chance of spell failure with a verbal component.[/sblock][/sblock]

Round 1

Zarpox's first movement is met with a flight of arrows, a couple of which find their mark [1]. Still, the warlock manifests his power and all those on and around the rear wagon are plunged into darkness.

Kaddok's attempt to cast is likewise met with a flight of arrows. Cloaked by the darkness of Zapox's spell, he is stuck by only one arrow [2]. Kaddok casts, but his light is unable to counter the blackness.

His companions are barely to see what is at their feet, let alone anything beyond.

Ather aims and shoots. He cannot tell where the arrow goes.

A command rings out from among the goblins [*]. The air fills with the shouts of the goblins as they surge forwards, closing rapidly. Twenty feet away they hurl their javelins. The air is filled with the screams and bellows of wounded animals as numerous javelins find their mark. The wagon lurches forwards unexpectedly [3].

Brottor likewise shoots, and similarly cannot follow the flight of his bolt.

Alton hurls his thunderstone. But in the darkness he is only able to land it next to a single goblin. It doesn't seem to have a great deal of effect.

"Winison!" Humbar shouts. The halfling is hunkered down beside the driver, his crossbow at his shoulder. He fires and begins to reload.

"I'm all right!" responds Winison. "But I can't see a damned thing!" She hefts the crossbow and shoots at one of the goblins.

1. Zarpox takes 2 hits, suffers 6 damage.
Voda, as far as I can tell, darkness has no effect on a character's ability to cast spells. Do you mean they won't be able to target range attack spells?
2. Kaddok takes 1 damage.
3. Those on the wagon make a DC 5 reflex save to avoid falling over. Those who fall over are prone, and need a move action to get back up.[/sblock]

Brottor moves forward with his crossbow, accounts for his companions so that he doesn't risk shooting them in the dark, and fires at where he believes a goblin to be.

Alton, 27/27 HP, 13 AC, 4 Initiative

The wagon lurches, and Alton swings his arms wildly. He doesn't fall, but manages to keep his balance. Unable to see, he gropes around on the ground, hoping to find his sling. He manages to find it, and stays put, unable to do much.

[sblock=OOC]Move action to get sling. No standard action. 6 on Reflex save.[/sblock]

Zarpox falls in his seat, but not from the wagon, almost loosing the grasp of his sword. After some cursing, he waits to see an enemy to kill it with his eldrich blast.

[sblock=OOC] Rolled an 8, +3 makes an 11. Readied action, shoot at the first goblin that he is able to see.[/sblock]

Round 2

Zarpox finds he has a target rich environment as the goblin warriors are but 30 feet from the wagon. But with the darkness the goblins are little more than dark movements in the darkness. His blast fails to find a target.

Kaddok's attempts to cast are once more greeted with a flight of arrows. Two arrows strike the cleric [1]. The goblins seem to have found their range. Kaddok manages to maintain his hold on his spell, a casts Bless. The cleric's companions feel a tingling in a manner that is vaguely familiar. But this time it is accompanied by a surge of confidence and calm [2]

Ather releases another arrow at the goblins. It is greeted with a grunt, and the dark shadow collapses to the ground.

The goblins warriors swarm in around the four bullocks, hacking and slashing with swords and axes. The animals struggle to get free, bellowing and thrashing around, but are held in place by their harnesses. The archers hold their positions some 50 ft. from the wagons.

A flight of javelins announces the arrival of the wolf riders that had been shadowing the wagon for so long. Alton [3] Kraddok [4] are both struck. The wolf riders have closed and are now within 30 feet of the back of the wagon.

"Protect the animals!" screams Humbar.

Brottor fires a bolt at the goblin warriors. The sensation of darkness is unfamiliar to the dwarf, he finds it unsettling. His bolts skids across the hard packed earth.

Alton fumbles around the wagon until he finds his sling.

Up at the front of the second wagon Winison mutters under her breath and makes a few small gestures. Like Kaddok, her attempt to cast is met with a flight of arrows. One strikes her, but she holds her concentration and casts. A dark energy emanates from around her, making the goblins bark and snarl. "There, I have done what I can to weaken their arms and crush their spirit [5]."

[sblock=ooc]
1. Kaddok suffers 4+2 damage
2. Kaddok casts bless, +1 to attack rolls, +1 saves vs fear.
3. Alton suffers 2 damage
4. Kaddok suffers 4 damage - he really is something of a missile magnet.
5. Winison casts bane[/sblock]
