Actually, in her name it's a silent H, too. If it's after a vowel (and before a consonant), you expand the vowel.

I actually knew she is a she.. sorry for the mistype there. As for the vowel bit, that is exactly like grandma says it. Funny.. I took 9 years of german, but never really picked up on that too much. Then again, that was over 15 years ago... These days I can barely understand it, let alone speak it.
