Lou's (3.5/Homebrew Gestalt) Hold Back the Flood - OOC

As my knowledge of 3.5 is limited by what I can find online, can you give me the book names? I can find them faster that way.

Marshall is from Miniatures Handbook (or this excerpt), Swashbuckler is from Complete Warrior and Duelist is DMG/Core/SRD.

Marshall won't boost your HD or Reflex save, but it would definitely give you a lot of ability buffs. Bard would do so, too, and shore up that Reflex save, plus give some casting and a lot more skills.

In my opinion, Duskblades are pretty good class, but it's hard to find a good complement to it in Gestalt. I'd look at something to boost HD size, add utility/versatility or fix the Reflex save.

Weapon wise, if we do dex based, probally rapier. If more casting, Greatsword or Spiked Chain

I'd recommend saving a feat and going with Greatsword. Plus, nothing quite like Quick Cast of True Strike, full Power Attack with greatsword, channeling Vampiric Touch. ;)

And it looks like we'll have our share of melee folks... I think I'll build the DS/Ranger to be competent in both melee and archery (though of course, stellar in neither), to use as the situation warrants. :)

Lou, been doing some checking and now what I'm thinking is:

Human Fighter, gestalt Rogue, PrC Exotic Weapon Master (bastard sword)

Question about bardic music. Some prefomances (like countersong) requite a standard action to sustain. Others, like inspire courage, do not. So one round I would start the song, and it would continue for the next 5 rounds, allowing me to full round attack a creature with the bonuses?

If so, Duskblade//Bard sounds like it would be fun. i just have to work on being a bard...

Oy...I need help.

Here's the dilemma:

Fey Warlock + Beguiler = great support caster/stealth scout/face.

Warlock (fey or otherwise) + Sorceror = Primary arcanist/artillery specialist

Warlock + Scout = Sniper/stealth scout

...

I'm having a DICKENS of a time deciding which of these fun concepts to go with! Any feedback from y'all on what might be better, or worse, from a group perspective?

Scotley, with a completed character on the wiki, uou've previously said you were going to keep him. Changing your mind? Or just ready to go?

Shayuri--just pick one and move forward. Warock/Scout or Warlock/Sorceror will both work well in this game. And if you want to be a Beguiler, you can do that.

jackslate-I'm not sure I understand the question, but most bardic music appears to require standard action concentration to continue, so no full round action would be possible. I'm sure Scotley can correct me....

I'm ready to move forward when the players are ready.

Oh, I'm happy with the character, just making sure he was set up right.

Jackslate is right, many of the Bardic effects last for a few rounds after the performance ends allowing you to benefit from them with full actions.

What a wonderful quandary to have.

I think the Warlock Sorcerer will be the least fun to play, because so many of the spells you would normally take as a blaster sorcerer are going to do much the same thing as the Warlock powers.

Fey Warlock/Beguiler sounds like a really good combo to me. Beguiler is a little limited on its own, but makes for a great supporting class. It is also good to have two Cha based classes.

Warlock/Scout is interesting but I've always felt the Scout Skirmish mechanic is weak once you get high enough level to get multiple attacks. That's a long time off and it might work okay with Warlocks EB in sniper mode. A high dex for the Scout stuff works well with EB too. This could also be a very interesting combo.

Apologies on the amount of time it is taking me... I've been swamped with various projects lately. :(

But my Dragon Shaman/Ranger is nearing completion. :)

And Shayuri, I would suggest either Warlock/Beguiler or Warlock/Scout. Beguiler gives a bit more variety and a definite creative edge with your illusions, but Scout gives you better movement and damage.
