Narančasta and Siva

Narančasta rushes for the stairs, sword in hand. He moves as fast as he can.

OCC: in case he can make it this round - [roll0][roll1]

Siva, horrified by what she has just done, does her best to shake it off and focus on the fight at hand. She drops the bow and pulls out her stick, stepping up to stand by Jacob.

"Just keep him at bay and jammed up in the door The others will be up soon."

OOC: Hopefully use the top of the stairs/door to get the benefit of a 'squeezing through a tight space' and a 'defended behind cover' penalty on the champion. Siva's rolls: [roll2][roll3]

Siva and Jakob have the bull-headed beast-man hemmed in from one side, Narančasta on the other side with Brom and Fendrel coming up the tower stair soon after. Unfortunately for them, the beast does not seem daunted and is able to swing before the citizens of Krivstad can bring their weapons to bear. It brings the heavy axe down in an overhead chop that catches Jakob at the join of neck and shoulder and bites deep into his body. Life flees from the body as the beast shakes Jakob loose from his weapon.

[sblock=OOC]New round: everyone is up.

Beast-man champion: vs. Jakob (1d20+2=14) for dmg (1d6+2=5). Alas, poor Jakob... dead.[/sblock]

A look of defiance is seen in the eyes of the fallen solder as his body falls with an ceremonial *thud* on the tower floor and flops liquidly down to the next step.

*alas, the solder rests*

Deuce Traveler

Tender rushes up the steps to support, his sword waving high above his head as he shouts a weak warcry. He is shaken from seeing his companion fall, but puts a brave front.

Kurl follows closely behind with his mace readied, saying to the dwarf, "Easy there pop! That critter looks nasty and unwinded. Let's try to hit him in a flank."

Boral also follows, but not before looking back at Betsy. "I'll be right back, now. Don't you worry!" With his pitchfork pointed in front of him as if he was a pikeman, the man charges upwards to join the others.

Narančasta and Siva

Siva lets out a horrified cry as Jacob is felled. She curses the beast-man and her decision to abandon the bow. Now all she has is her stick.

Siva back-pedals, doing her best to use the stick to defend herself while from the beast-man until the rest of her companions can reach it.

ooc: defending! [roll0], and if necessary [roll1]

Narančasta lets out a roar of rage and continues his rush up the steps, desperately trying to close the gap between himself and the monster before it can kill again.

[roll2][roll3]

[sblock=OOC]I don't think that the rules actually allow for defending. But I figured you could use the roll somehow. Straight Luck Check maybe? If not, I added a damage roll just in case the only option was a basic attack roll.[/sblock]

Siva swats at the bull-headed champion of the beast-men with the stick she carries but misses the brute. As she begins to backpedal the champion raises his axe to take advantage of her momentary defenselessness but Narančasta is faster. His sword flicks out and deals the death blow to the beast. Its axe clatters to the floor and the champion follows a second after.

Finally, the group has a chance to look around the tower. Still dimly lit despite the light coming from the two open doors the tower is a scene of horrors. Rotting hides and skins splattered in waste and gore are strewn about the floor, the bodies of the dead beast-men and the dead and unconscious of their own group sprawl on the ground level, and human bodies hang from chains around the walls of the tower. From one of these comes a faint and raspy, "Help..."

In addition, there is an unopened door on the ground level.
