Pathfinder 1E Scotley's and Leif's Constables of the 14th Ward - Main Action Thread [3.5E D&D] [IC 04]

The snow drift erupts as a huge worm with dozens of insectoid legs, faceted eyes, and a wide mouth brimming with jagged teeth. The back of the head bristles with a pair of winglike fins. The flying snow and ice is blinding (DC12 Fort save or be dazzled for 1 round). Having been warned, Tau, Soulfetter and Alarion react quickly.

OOC: Actions for Tau, Soulfetter and Alarion. The snow is difficult terrain requiring double movement cost. The snow drift is difficult terrain requiring 3x normal movement cost and a DC10 ride or balance check not to fall and roll back down. I guess we've lost a few others, but maybe they'll join the fight in progress.

Seeing as he cannot charge through the snow, the knight-turned-constable Drops his lance, and urges Bayard towards the monstrosity. As he rides, he frees his sword and shouts a mighty battlecry. "FOR MORWYN AND TOVARRE!!!!!" and slashes at the worm!

Raul catches up with the group

With his mother's illness winding down and her health returning, Raul leaves his mother's side and returns to work.

Cleaning up at this apartment, Raul packs lightly and hurries to the Polished Staff to find the other Constables. As he enters, Mattie calls him over and offers him a stave and an ale. Quickly surveying the room and seeing no Alphas in sight he says, "I'll take those to go, Mattie. Did the others say where they were headed?" Mattie shakes her head at the customary poor eating habits of her favorite customers. As she shoves staves and a slice of mushroom pie into a sack, she replies, "They were headed towards Sir Upjohn's. You're about 2 hours behind." Raul nods as he chugs some ale from the old covered mug Mattie has given him. "Well I'd better be off after them." Raul pulls out some silver pieces and slaps them on the counter. "See you when we back!" Mattie shakes her head as Raul scampers out the door and moves to the street to head out towards Sir Upjohn's lands. Raul continues drinking until the mug is empty as he walks, slower than his usual rapid gait.

Raul continues walking and eating until he clears the city gate. Shoving the empty bag into his pack, Raul starts making time at his monk's pace, trying to catch up to his comrades.

It's the first line in my OOC block, boss. Alarion has a +12 fort save, so his minimum roll is a 13 [/sblock]
We'd appreciate it if you would go ahead and make the rolls anyway, Helfdan. While it is true that failure in these conditions is a mathematical impossibility, realizing that requires the use of DM brain cells that have been dedicated to the creation of challenges for constables and stuff like that. Your help in making our transition to the Old DM's Retirement Village is greatly appreciated.

Lou: A person with a familiar face sees Raul hurrying after his fellow constables, and calls to him, "Ho, Constable! They went that-a-way. Come here and I can assist you." When Raul approaches, he sees that the man is wearing the robes of an arcanist. He introduces himself as Professor Haswan Berfubble and he has made the acquaintance of some members of your squad before. After some brief discussion he has learned enough of where Raul is headed and with whom, to employ his art. Moments later, Raul sees his surroundings fade into mist, and then he is in the midst of his fellow constables once again, just in time to face the wrath and ravenous hunger of the Rabid Remorhaz!

Despite reacting slowly, Braevil at least manages to raise his shield to cover his head, protecting himself from the flying snow.

OOC: @Leif: I thought we were traveling to go visit Sir Upjohn? If so, how can he be in the city assisting Raul?

OOC: We were giving Tau a little time in case he wanted to share his finding, but we shall not hold up any longer. The trip out to see Sir Upjohn is an unpleasant one this time of year. The snow and ice make even a simple journey a dangerous one. You leave the city behind and are soon on the small road to Sir Upjohn's castle. The days are short, but you should be able to make his lands before nightfall. Perception Spot/Listen checks from all please?

Tau is shocked at the sudden appearance and reacts almost by instinct. He takes an almost stumbling step back and after spitting out a few arcane words, sends forth a ball of dazzling glitter into the creature's face.

Fort Save vs DC12 (1d20+7=21)

OOC: Tau takes a 5 foot step back, then casts Glitterdust, Casting Defensively vs DC 17 (1d20+14=32). Also, saving throws always have to be rolled because rolling a 1 is an automatic failure, no matter what your bonus is.
