With everyone being ready to continue on toward the stronghold, the question becomes one of route. The most obvious route through the mountains to the stronghold is the road, but it occurs to you that you are likely to encounter enemy patrolls with ever increasing regularity if you take that route. The other method would be overland. While strenuous, you could conceivably aproach the fortress with far less unwelcome attention from the besieging forces. There are probably several other possible routes as well.

How specifically do you want to proceed?

"In order to avoid constant enemy patrols and possibly meeting one of these dragons before we are prepared, the back routes would be the best option. That should be considered all deliberate speed. Hmm, if we were a Nomad, we could just Teleport, but nothing better comes to mind than walking through the tough terrain. Thus slowed, we will surely have a chance to recover our losses, however. Hopefully, someone here has prepared a Rope Trick for a safe repose?"

Charlarn of Phyrah: male human cleric 6/ranger 2

Charlarn shakes his head and says, "No, that's wizardly magic. Iggy, do you know that spell? Let's avoid the road, in any case. We won't be much help to the fortress if we run into more of those patrols." As they confer, he pulls a wand out of his pouch and touches it to his arm; cure light wounds (1d8+1=6).

"I don't know that spell, unfortunately. There are so many good spells out there; I can't get them all. As long as our steeds can make the overland trip, I'm up for it." Iggy will take up his place, somewhat in the middle of the group, and head out.

Riding the horses might be a difficulty in some places, but even in those places a decent animal handler can probably coax them to follow if led on foot.

You push on for several hours through rugged terrain, and though the journey is tiring you avoid any patrolls of lizardmen. You are almost to the base of the fortress. Clouds are begining to gather and it's begining to get dark even though dusk is still perhaps two hours away.

[Sblock=Spot DC 18]You notice some shapes flying above, possibly some sort of airborne partol?[/sblock]

Also, DC 14 Fort save or become fatigued.

*Zaeryl keeps himself focused with his power.*

(OOC: 10 + 4 for 1 PP = 14. Then Zaeryl comically misses the Spot check, but his psicrystal does better 18 though sadly, it proves to be out of Sighted range)
