Interesting. Only 28 votes for homebrew out of 129 in total. The way it was described historically was that most people were running homebrew. Particularly on this kind of site. Very glad to see that isn’t the case. Popular but not ubiquitous.

And what did they ever do for us?

Create a great civilisation that withstood the test of time for centuries and spread culture in a barbaric world ? Including the works of many writers, poets and artists whose influence is still felt today ? And create a truly awesome part of the world's history ? For their time, they were really enlightened by many standards, including respecting the culture and faith of whoever they conquered, while bringing many of the benefits of their civilisation. Yes, as a Frenchman, I'm obligated to support Asterix and the Gauls, but frankly (intentional pun) they moved us from the tribal age to a much more civilised era.

Strategic voting. One may mostly run homebrew settings, but one may also want to support or encourage WotC to publish particular settings.
