Diaglo, time to update your transport. I use an M977 HEMTT to haul my lead minis around:

Almost two decades ago I was a hardware buyer for a major retail chain, at which time a tool box company named Flambeau gave me some excellent heavy-duty multi-drawer tool boxes as samples and I've been using them every since. Never saw these actual boxes on sale anywhere or I would have bought more. Prior to that I used parts cabinets, but they lack the portability of tool boxes.

HEMTT aside. I store all my hundreds (maybe thousands) of metal minis in those plastic tool boxes with foam padding cut to shape and plastic pistol cases (these come with the foam padding inside.) Also have a couple of those multi-drawer units for storing nut and bolts stuffed full of lead and Ralidium too. And I have one of those stackable plastic 20 or 30 gallon tote things filled with more lead, but in the original boxes. The plastic WotC minis are stored in stackable plastic shoe boxes.

My potential future grandchildren will probably get lead poisoning when I'm in an urn and my sons have to figure out what to do with all this stuff I collected.

Thanks,
Rich

For my Star Wars Starship minis, I use a Plano 7271 tackle box system. The smaller boxes hold the starfighters and the top and front compartments hold the larger ships. The map and instructions slide in between the smaller boxes. For my D&D minis, I use a Plano 6103 three-tray tackle box. But I ran out of room quickly, so I'm looking for another box. I also went to art supply stores to look at their boxes.

Very true on a napoleanic caisson being a better fit. Artillery here, but it was Reagan artillery.

Thanks,
