Thanks. Just weird that I never noticed it before. /shrug, I must be getting either old or blind. Or maybe it is a combination. :p

Naw. Most would probably not notice without the new and improved bludgicons used to point up people's various levels of involvement. :)

Just a few points.

First of all, congrats to Sean.

Second, as someone living in a country whose constitution protects the right to free speech, Sean has every right to get on his soapbox and speak to current issues. It doesn't just irritate me, it pisses me off, that people think that he shouldn't be entitled to an opinion just because his line of work falls into the realm of entertainment, or that they would hold his political stances against a company that employs him.

Third, in my experience, his political leanings don't affect his game design work.

Fourth, politically angry or not, I've worked with him and he's not just professional, he's actually a good guy. He'll go the extra mile to answer customer questions about product lines that he's involved with.

Fifth, I am a Pathfinder subscriber, I will remain a Pathfinder subscriber, and adding Sean is a solid move on their part.

I appreciate the sentiment (and agree with it!), but it is worth pointing out that our sales have _increased_ since the announcement and launch of 4e, and we have more paid Pathfinder subscribers now than at any point in the product's history.

I know a lot of publishers have seen a slump in their 3.5 sales, but this has not happened to us.

Full steam ahead!

That's great news Erik, and that's what I get for replying to a thread before reading it all! :)

I wish you continued success.

I guess that's good for Paizo and Pathfinder. But for me and my friends, 4th edition is the better game. So I won't get toplay whatever amazingness Monte and SRK will produce for 3.75 be seeing

Who said he shouldn't be allowed an opinion? I think some people have decided not to use their money to support a person who holds views they consider to be objectionable; and by extension they won't support a company that employs such a person. Even though I don't know what SKR has said that has people's dander up, that's a perfectly reasonable position and one of the few recourses one has under capitalism.

If a guy says "I hate X" and I find that hatred unjustified or objectionable then perhaps I will take a stand by not buying what he is selling. Again, I have no idea what SKR said that irritated people; this next bit is just an example and has nothing to do with SKR. But suppose I found out that a local merchant was an anti-Semite. That might not bother some folks, but it would bother me big time. I would make it a point not to shop with that merchant and I'd try to get other people to do the same. That merchant would be entitled to his opinion, since it's a free country, but I am likewise free to avoid shopping with him and even doing whatever is lawful and ethical to see that his business fails. In fact, if I find anti-Semitism to be inimical to the common good then it's basically my civic duty to do so. And there's very little you can do in capitalism to advance the common good and fulfill your civic duty; responsible consumption is one of the few.

That being said, again I don't know what the anti-SKR folks are on about and if it is anything of consequence. But, speaking purely generically and in principle, it's an eminently reasonable stance to modify your consumer habits based upon your moral and ethical assessment of the merchant.

That is totally awesome. I'm glad to do my part as well. My Paizo purchases (and pathfinder subscriptions) have increased since the PF announcement largely because you guys are in there and still doing such great work with the version of D&D I prefer.

And is it true that WotC isn't at Origins? That was the rumor floating around.

But suppose I found out that a local merchant was an anti-Semite.

Suppose we assume that the local merchant didn't like people using the terms enchant and imbue interchangably since enchant has a specific meaning in 3.xe?

That being said, again I don't know what the anti-SKR folks are on about and if it is anything of consequence. But, speaking purely generically (. . .)

Except, of course, when you ignored moderator warnings and then associated SKR with anti-semitism. That was an interesting touch.
