Wiki challenge!

Hadn't seen that. Doesn't affect anything I want to do, though!

Well, I am not sure how far you got into the thread, but the "movement" quickly grew beyond simply Mongoose (although they have the bulk of the content at the moment).

Regardless, I just wanted to point out that the EN wiki (which I personally might favor, for obvious reasons) is competing with at least one other OGC wiki project of at least equal "significance."

Folks are going to have to choose where to spend their time/upload their content. That's the "fork."

Well, it's not a competition; I'm sure both projects can co-exist peacefully!

I can understand the point though. It's not a matter of competition as much as it is a matter of disconnect between the two resources. Eventually, some content might need or want to link to other content and the option would be either to reproduce the content in both wikis or to link from one to the other in an inconsistent manner.

On a related note, while I admire these projects, I have to say that I have a personal distaste for wikis, specifically with regards to their editing and markup. I don't understand why wikis insist on using obscure and nonstandard markup rather than creating a WYSIWYG that creates standard XHTML. Even Google Docs, Google Sites, and Google Page Creator do this. It's for these reasons that I also don't understand why wikis are so popular.

Oh, I understand the point; but if I were never to do anything because someone else is doing it also, there'd be no EN World, no messageboards, no EN Publishing... I'd probably not have left my bed in the last 20 years! :)

I don't think anyone mentioned not doing this. Perhaps the goal should be to instead merge the two projects? Invite the other group to place their content in here instead.
