One of the best is in the thread above on Kalamar. From the CS alone, you'd get two huge maps of the entire world (all done by a professional cartographer so..you know, no rivers flowin' the wrong way and plateaus on plateaus...) The atlas, another Kalamar product, was an entire rules free (at least 99%) book with a topographical version of the campaign map, including towns, rivers, roads, winds, waterways, mountain passes, emports/exports...

Kalamar is actually what inspired me to ask. I just picked up the new book ans was wondering what other good maps are out there.

Christopher West's interior and city maps are awesome. His are prominently featured in Thieves Quarter, Divine Quarter and Arcane Quarter, from The Game Mechanics. And in many Dungeon magazine adventures.

Are you mostly looking for wilderness, cities or interiors/dungeons? Myself, I can never have too many interesting buildings like chapels, cathedrals, manorhouses, etc.

Yes? I was mostly thinking of world maps but other things are great too.

One of my favorites was the Iron Dragon board. It had the added bonus that you could draw on it in crayon

If you like maps, I highly recommend almost anything from the Harn setting. The originals came out in the 80's, and still sets an incredibly high standard.

For a fantasy or historical game, Harn, Cities of Harn and the many other supplements from that setting are outstanding.

I also loved Todd's maps from Iron Kingdoms and Xavier's Five Fingers city map.

The pinnacle of game-world mapping is Harn. Columbia Games and Kelestia.com, as well as various fan-made maps. Those, City of the Invincible Overlord, Warhammer FRP, Sanctuary, Freeport, Pavis and some parts of Waterdeep are also the only good city maps. Most fantasy game city and building maps are, not to put too fine a point on it, childishly done. Not in the good way of providing a rough sketch-map of the area, but just plain stupidly executed.

After that, we get Kalamar's atlas. After that, Pathfinder's Golaria is a nice-looking world and probably the best-done fantasy world map currently on the market. The all-in-one map from the last issue of Dungeon, and DCC #35, the Known Lands are also pretty good but kinda odd in the way they do certain things.

I want more RPGs to put some damn thought into world maps, like Russell Kirkpatrick does for his novels.
