D&D 4E Crafting in 4E

First Post
Has anyone devised crafting (and resource gathering) rules for 4E. I know a lot of resource gathering can be done simply via role-play, but crafting rules would be pretty sweet...at least I think so...and I think it needs to be done in such a way as to not eat up existing skills.

I guess it would be similar to rituals in implementation.

First a player would need to take a feat to become trained in whatever area of craftsmanship.
Metal Working
Leather Working
Wood Working
etc.

When crafting an item, you spend a specified amount of time and pay the 'component cost'. The creation rituals in the PHB don't require skill check, so lets say that mundane crafting doesn't require them either. If you have the necessary training to create an item, all you need are the materials and the time.

*edit*
More.

Like rituals, you would also have to be a certain level or higher to craft certain items.

Lets say...
Simple Weapons: Levels 1-5
Military Weapons: Levels 6-10
Superior Weapons: Levels 11-15

I am working on something for "non-adventuring skills" in general, covering Craft, Perform and Profession. It has little relation to the regular skills system. I think others have posted their homebrew Craft system, too.

The system is pretty easy. I will see if I can post it this evening (GMT +1 ;) ), I don't have the stuff here, and it's not entirely finished.
