Boundless Endurance - Seeking Clarification

Hi all,

The player of the fighter in my group has just chosen Boundless Endurance as his 2nd level utility power and I just want to make sure I understand how it works correctly.

It is a daily power that grants regeneration when the PC is bloodied. Does this mean that they can use it once and only after they become bloodied? So if they stop being bloodied and then become bloodied again later that same day, this power does not function? Also, does the regeneration stop once the PC ceases to be bloodied? I am assuming the answer to all those questions is "yes" but I just want to make sure.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Jonathan

The key is the "Stance" keyword:
Stance: A stance power lasts until the end of the encounter, for 5 minutes, or until you use another stance power.

So when you expend the daily power as a minor action, you assume the "Boundless Endurance" stance. This stance lasts until the end of the encounter, unless you take up another stance.

As long as you are in the Boundless Endurance stance, you regenerate while you are bloodied, and you don't regenerate while you are not bloodied.

You can use the power before you are bloodied if you want... but it won't actually do anything until you become bloodied, at which point you will start regenerating. If you regenerate enough to become unbloodied, you'll stop regenerating... and if you're subsequently bloodied again, you'll regenerate again.

Until the end of the encounter, or you use another Stance power.

Actually, the answer to almost all of these is "no."

It's a stance, which means it lasts till the end of the encounter or until the player chooses to use a different stance power. The power can be used whenever you want to use it--for the rest of the encounter, whenever the PC becomes bloodied, he gains regeneration. When he is no longer bloodied, he stops regenerating. If he becomes bloodied again, he starts regenerating again.

EDIT: Ninja'd thanks to crappy server timeouts.

Just as a check, even if the fighter is knocked unconscious...the stance still remains correct?

Now I know regen stops working when you are at 0 or below, but if he was brought back with regular healing he would start regening again correct?

I don't know how the RAW reads in reference to being K/O'd, but I would say that it would interrupt your stance.

as an aside, If you were K/O'd for five minutes, would your encounter powers recharge?

Ooh, that's a good question, stalker.

EDIT: Icarusfallz has a good question, too. I'm inclined to agree that being KOed would end the stance, but I'm not sure if being unconscious for 5 minutes counts as a short rest.

Apropos of nothing, I just noticed that my post count is 666! Ha ha.

Boundless Endurance sucks. Don't believe what anyone else tells you, they're all wrong. Tell your fighter player to take No Opening or Unstoppable instead.

No, Boundless Endurance ROCKS. It saved my but in my last game session and since I'm the defender it saved everyones but ... it healed around 30+ damage since I was nearly all the time bloodied.

A Defender SHOULD have enough HP that hovering around the bloodied mark would not be TOO much of a problem. If he's fighting a LOT of minions, or a solo, it isn't the best way to go, however. Which power is the best really depends on the situation.

Personally, I like Boundless Endurance. I can see why others (Like Kzach) don't however. It's all in how you have fun.
