2009 ENnies Judge Selection

Unknown at this time. :D
Wow.

That's... suboptimal.

Reminds me of what one of my former bosses used to say when we missed deadlines: "If you can't manage to get me what you promised, learn to manage my expectations".

Definitely something that should be considered, I think.

The server troubles make keeping the deadline for voting on next year's judges a difficult prospect. If they have similar problms as with this year's ENnies voting, it might eat too much into time that is better allotted to finalizing this year's ceremony. Better to postpone the election until after Gencon, IMO, than to try and maintain the deadline the only benefit of which is (as far as I know) to be able to announce the judges for next year at this year's ceremony. While nice, it is not crucial.

You may be right.

What concerns me more is the total absence of official explanation or response from the powers-that-be. One would think that if you want the process and the awards to be taken seriously as the pre-eminent professional gaming industry recognition, from beginning to end, you'd at least tell everyone what was going on, instead of ... well... saying nothing.

Nothing.

Sub-optimal.

They may be waiting for the best time to make the announcement, when the server is more stable and the weekend is over, once they've made a definite decision. Setting up another deadline for after the convention and missing it would only cause posts of umbrage and concern. They may have been in touch with the candidates and need to await responses from them in regard to some finer points.

I have an idea of how to announce the judges at the ENnies... choose the judges at the ENnies! Get one of those crowd-meter things and have people cheer as each judge is announced. You could even have the judge-wannabes give brief speeches live about why they'd be the best judge.

:D

(I still think we should use a Dread game, though...)

The ENnies Board and Staff are currently investigating the continuing delay in the opening of the 2009 judge election process. Although we cannot currently provide an estimate for when elections will open, we still hope that the elections can be completed for the ENnies Ceremony on Friday, August 15th, at Gen Con Indianapolis. If we receive confirmation that the elections cannot be completed before that time, we will make an announcement on the ENnies website at www.ennieawards.com.

Thank you for your continuing patience.
