Pathfinder 1E D&D4 and Pathfinder can coexist

[sarcasm=me]
I think things are getting better. I see much less sniping now than a few months ago.
You're stupid, Dave Mage and you clearly have no clue as to what you are talking about. I will now post a 5-paragprah essay on how you are wrong, and fill it with baseless rumors, conjectures, and inaccurate conclusions. All those who think things are getting better are the devil and leading to the downfall of gamerdome![/sarcasm]

Yeah, the passion has died down a little, but it's human nature to want clearly defined boundries. We can deal with an Us vs. Them attitude. It's easy to understand and follow. Things get confusing when the lines are blurred and people have a hard time forumlating accurate arguments, gauging opinions, and so on when there is not an absolute.

If both survive, then in 2 years time they will not be related in the eye's of most players. 2 differnt games, both do fantasy. That's it.

I just posted something similar on a MN Twins site/forum. People don't seem to be able to be rational about anything. They don't seem to understand that you can disagree with one aspect of something, while agreeing on other things. A prominent republican said that was the core of his party's problems right now - they forgot congress and the president could disagree even if they were in the same party, much like Twins fans can disagree about a decision the manager makes while still being "real" fans, and gamers can disagree about systems while still playing games together.

While there are good psychological reasons explaining our need for us/them boundaries, we really do need to move beyond them at some point.

Also, I'd avoid any threads on the forgotten realms if I was you....

ps, i hope my quoting a politician is not in violation, it is an example across something more serious than gaming or sports, that is all. If I need to remove it, let me know.

To misquote "Blazing Saddles" ....

Joe Sala Johnson is right!

Now let's get back to talking about beating the snot out of monsters! (or your enemy of choice)

I think it would rock if both editions remained strong into the future. Like the OP said, why can't they just coexist and be friends? I will only play one edition, won't say which, but I would love to have the option to change if I'm no longer happy.

I for one don't like the fact that I'm physically unable to speed up time and have my beta now! Where's my time machine? Where are the flying cars? This is the future isn't it?

Well, to be blunt, the future is a big disappointment. No alien invasions. No flying cars. No time travel, off-world colonies, genetic wars, fusion reactors, nothing.

All we got is this stupid internet thingy, as if anyone would have wanted that 40 years ago...

How did Gamma World work? Small factions of interrelated groups becoming more and more fanatical about their held positions? Eventually waging holy war against the non-believers?

Nah, it could never happen. Right?

Gamma World just won the Nobody Award for being the most realistic table-top role-playing game ever.

Is it worse at RPG.net or Paizo? It was really bad for a while here, but not so much the past couple months. One can actually discuss things with very little edition war spam, and the few spiteful ones are easily ignored (literally).
