Without edition bashing, I will admit that it has been interesting to see the next generation of "leap-grognards" emerge. I skipped most of 2e, jumping from 1e to 3e, when 3e rekindled my imagination and inspired me to learn the newer edition. I did buy the 2e PH the day it came out, and I was not inspired to switch editions.

4e did not inspire me; it insulted me (I did buy the 4e core books the day they were released). Still, there are those who for whatever reason, stuck with 2e and have now embraced 4e.

From my perspective, 3e was the "new" 1e, just as 4e seems to be the "new" 2e. Enjoy 4e, y'all... I'll be leaping to 5e in a few. ;)

I voted for 2nd Edition since that was the edition I had the most fun with, but really I'm open to most games. I can't get too into the 3.x/4 fight since I didn't like 3.x enough to really defend it and I haven't tried 4 enough to get an idea either way. Mostly for me it's the further move towards using miniatures. I know that's how the game started, but I literally never used minis from 1980 to 2005 or so when I found a 3.x group. I find that take you out of the flow of the game and if I find 4 can be played sans mini I might have to revise my rankings, but probably not.

I like in one way or another each edition of D&D.

Currently I'm running a 3.5, playing in a 4e, keeping a close eye on Pathfinder as well as A Game of Thrones and thinking of doing a "Special" OD&D game for my group as a five-off (as against a one-off). I really enjoy all games that I'm involved in.

I think 3.5 suits my DMing style the best but I still have issues with the reliance on MIs. I'll vote 3.5 for this reason but in reality, I'm most probably more on the fence.

Best Regards
