Are you buying a DDI subscription or not?

^ Yeah the file can be copied to anywhere from anywhere once saved. There are ways to prevent people from opening it, but as I said, even a password protected PDF can be shared among friend be passing along the password with the file. The main point was that once someone has the PDF copy in this day and age, everyone in the world would have it. Odds are Google, has even cache the compendium already after the updated depending on the presence of robots.txt in the directory, or NO CACHE being in the meta for the independent pages. Security isn't really the issue, but the issue is that everyone can have a copy even if they can't open it legally. I understand they don't want people to have access to what wasn't paid for, but at some point the compendium is going to make that moot when it includes the material anyway.

Well, I use my laptop. :uhoh:

How do you flush a laptop?

@El Mahdi: So crunch users get access to all back data, but fluff users don't. That seems fair. I would be a crunch user BTW.

So the actual eDragon and eDungeon are free for the old issues with just a single motnh subscription, but not the PDF format. The PDF back issues cost extra outside of the compendium low subscription fee.

So, if I'm understanding right a person that waits a year from now to subscribe won't get free access to the Dungeon & Dragon pdf issue archives? They'll actually have to pay for each seperate back issue?

Sounds like it. I guess you're just one of the fortunate ones that makes out in this deal. However, those that want their chocolate with their peanut butter are screwed.;)

Apparently that's the plan, because of the above posted reasons.

Bacon and eggs is cool too.;)

By the way, I think your answer for how to flush a laptop is to use a really strong plunger.;):p

Edit: And flush twice!;)

At best, I get to play 1½ sessions per week. In recent times we’ve played Marvel Superheroes, D&D4e, a homebrew system, TriStat dX, Toon, classic Traveller, classic D&D, D&D3e, Lord of the Rings, and more. (And nobody seemed particularly impressed by 4e so far.) So, the idea of subscribing to a service dedicated almost exclusively to 4e isn’t too appealing to me.

Now, I am one to say that it’s easy to ignore the system-specific stuff and use material with any other system. I would, however, say that generally I find the Wizards stuff to be less inspirational for such cross-system conversions. I’d be more likely to renew my Pyramid subscription, even though I have no plans to play GURPS anytime soon.

Dragon Dungeon ETC

I wanted to know if one subscribed to the DDI/Dungeon/Dragon deal several months later are they able to gain access to the early articles. So if I decide in January that I want to subscribe. Do I then get access to the articles I missed in November and December when I did not have a subscription?

If that is the case, then I will probably subscribe later on based on community feedback.

Thanks.

You'll get access to the individual pieces of each issue, just not the compiled pdf issue.

That sounds like a fair enough deal. I will not be likely printing any articles, but I'm sure someone out there will hack the complied PDFs anyway.

Thanks for the news.
