In 4e the GM doesn't have as big a headache = more fun
4e the GMs prep is easier meaning he can spend more time on plot and developement that he would have been spending on looking through spell books = more fun
in 4e Rituals can do all the utility stuff and if you want to take your cahracter down that route anyone can do them. = more fun
and a few classes arnt so far ahead that playing the others is just playing second fiddle to them. = more fun.
Nearly everything you mention here is to help facilitate the game for the DM. The DM is one person at the table. There tends to be 3 to 6 others or so.
Quite frankly, I think the 4E monster stat blocks are pretty nice. WotC helped out the DM quite a bit with this release. That doesn't help the 4E PC stat blocks which are repetitive.
The only arguments people seem to have are that "my wizard isn't god anymore, this game is not fun now"
If you think that, you haven't read this thread. It has nothing to do with high level imbalance.
I've never gotten a Wizard past 11th level, so I wouldn't know anything about them being gods. This appears to be the main counter position people have come up with. High level is now balanced. Fine. It is. It's also boring.
"Look a target" "Let's capture it" "With what?" "Ok, let's just kill it"
You cannot even Grab an opponent in 4E and prevent it from using powers (that and the fact that Grab is super easy to Escape from).
Fire, fire, heal, fire, fire, fire, heal, heal, fire. Ok. Targets dead. Rest. Next Encounter. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum. zzzzzzzzzz
"We are getting killed here, do something Wizard" "Ok, I'll use my Knock scroll to open this back door here so that we can run, oh, nevermind. I cannot use miscellaneous spells in combat, guess I'll use Scorching Burst yet again"
