What do you want? I'll tell you something -

There is another side to the "support" complaint, and that is that the official company supported brand of D&D historically tends to be more popular and have more players than other systems and older editions of D&D. People feel that the lack of "support" for 3E will contribute to a smaller 3E playing community, and that as a 3E player they no longer have the advantage of playing the most popular game in the RPG world and the easiest to recruit players for.

People don't directly say this, but I do believe that in many cases it is an underlying part of the "support" complaint.

"what do you want"?
I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations. I would look up into your lifeless eyes and wave, like this. Can you and your associates arrange that for me?

Oh, I'm sorry. Was that off topic?

Yeah, good post DD. I'm just getting into RC/1E now, and there's more than enough material to last a lifetime.

No it was not off topic because BABYLON 5 friggin rocks and third only to to Sheridan and Garibaldi, Vir is my favorite character. +1 XP to you sir(?).

Man, to the obsessos who'd tell you that if they're not playing the brand newest latest and greatest D&D then they're not playing D&D, tell 'em to seek help. That's not a hobby, that's a syndrome. You can't even hold it up to being like upgrading your computer: your brain doesn't need a new GPU every so often to keep up with the latest visuals.

Heck, ask Diaglo.

To add to what I said before:

In regards to the OP, the only missing from your post was the fact that until recently, 3E D&D was the most supported RPG on the planet, and at this point in time it is not. Given the timing of things, and given that there is value in your game being the most supported RPG on the planet, there is a sense of loss involved.

I'm scratching my head here, in the metaphorical sense. What'd I say about 5e?
Well, you more or less implied that it will come out in 5 or 6 years.

Because you know what? Given what we know about history in about five, maybe six years, we'll be bumping into the 4e crowd as they watch the good ship Hasbro cruise over the horizon

That said, I agree with your post. I like different editions and games, but my favorite remains AD&D.Never had much trouble in playing it, even it it has been out of print for a long time... 2 PBEM just begun and it's likely that I will restart my FtF group in December. If that happens, we'll also play TOEE. :)
