Any new settings for 4e?

I've decided that I don't really want a rehash of an old setting from previous editions. Has anyone heard of any new 4E specific settings coming down the pipe?

I think, and hope, that if enough people want it, and are vocal about it, then the new default POL setting could get more treatment. In some ways it already does from dungeon. Are not most of those based in the default POL?

Don't they still own a couple of the settings from The Search a few years back? The one that resulted in Eberron. I think still have Rich Burlew's at least.

I guess the decision comes down to whether or not their customers would rather have a new setting or a 4e version of Greyhawk, Dark Sun, Planescape...

Unfortunately (in my mind) the answer to that is that most customers want something old and re-packaged. It is a combination of nostalgia, familiarity, and fear of change (in my quasi-judgmental opinion).

Take the new Star Trek movie. I'm sure it will be good, as FR 4e was pretty good, as will 4e Eberron, Greyhawk, Dark Sun, etc. But why can't they take all that time and energy and money and invest it in a new scifi movie franchise? Because familiarity sells--it is less risky. WotC knows that Eberron 4e will sell X-numbers of books and they'd rather it be a sure thing than an unknown.

All that complaining aside, I'm sure we're going to see some new settings, probably as soon as 2010 (after Eberron in '09). Just not as soon, or as much, as I personally would like (Which is why I finally bit the bullet and bought the Aereth PDF to get my setting fix).

I hear they're working on something called Synnibarr.

Yikes!

The first installment of the Riverbend setting ships in a few weeks.

Though I hesitate to call it a setting yet; it's almost exactly Hommlet-sized, with a tight connection to the Feywild. There's quite a bit of Feywild-specific lore, characters, items, and rituals, though, in a fairly dark vein.

In KQ? Or as pdf?
