Cloud of Daggers

First Post
I'm new to 4e. Last time I played D&D was 2nd Edition... I am trying to figure out how things work and if I am reading them correctly.

Area - 1 square within 10 - Does this mean the cloud fills 1 square up to 10 squares away? Seems like a small cloud.

Target - Each creature in square. - How can you get more than 1 creature in the square? This is why I am confused.

Effect - The power's area is filled with sharp daggers of force. Any creature that enters the area or starts its turn there takes force damage equal to your Wis. Minimum 1. - Does this mean they take your full Wisdom damage or just the + you get from the score. i.e. 14 Wis Damage or +2 damage.

Yes, 1 square. It is small because it is an at will spell.

Target: It is each creature because others could enter it if you place it strategically.

Effect: Yes, Wisdom modifier, not score.

Many people use this to set up the 1 sq area, and then use various push, pull, slide effects (or their fellow PCs do) to make enemies (particularly minions) enter the area and take the wis mod dmg.

Also, note that with a decent wis, most of the time this power will do more dmg than magic missle to a single target (although the creature won't take the wis dmg until it starts its own turn)

A character can stand in the same square as a prone ally, and could carry one or more creatures if he can lift them. And an indefinite number of creatures could lie unconscious in one square.
