The OGL would still be a sticking point with me. I'd still rather support RPG products I'm not quite as crazy about if they're completely open than a system that is everything I've ever wanted in an RPG but is completely closed. When I look at where I'm going to spend my money, one of the questions I ask myself is whether or not I foresee myself doing something with the game professionally.

So I can't answer the poll as there isn't an option that describes my criteria.

Yup, though I would even with me somehow knowing everything in the next edition was perfect for me. I would think it be best to do a proper amount of supplements for the current one, so that it had enough support before moving onto the next, for those who that edition wasn't their perfect one.

That's an easy one for me because I haven't bought anything 4e.

And I don't want to be too old when 5e comes out.

And I'd take it as wotc finally seeing the error of their ways.
"sorry... this is what we should have done..."

I'm curious to see if anyone will actually reply "no", and if so, what their rationale will be.

I haven't bought any 4E materials, so for me it's not even worth a moment's doubt... I suppose if I had, then gotten disillusioned and 5E came out very soon after I'd be seriously tempted to grab a pirated copy, but in the end, I'd buy it just for the convenience of having a physical book I could flip through.

Yes.

Which is why I bought C&C. Its turned into being the perfect game for me.

So the downside is I don't see anyone else doing anything better that would steal me away. If it does get done, I will buy into it.

If 5th Ed. came out right now, and it had everything you (personally) ever desired in an RPG would you buy it?

(Assuming this is the question being asked Yes/No. )

I've got what I need out of the RPGs I play. But then, that's been the case for some years now. If a game's ruleset is so obnoxious as to require a new edition, I just don't play it. Pretty simple I think.

I ask to see how much people want to own a good game, vs. how much they hate corp. greed/money grabs.

"Everything if ever personally desired" = Money Grab? No comprendo. The poll responses speak for themselves.

There wasn't an option for "Maybe" or "Not Sure".

If it came out right now, after only 6 months of 4E? NO

If it came out a year or so from now, and had everything I had ever wanted? MAYBE

Because of my disillusionment with 4E, I have been very active in perfecting my own 3.5E houseruled system to my preferences. This is becoming, and probably will remain, my favorite system. It may be that I'll never go with another new edition or rules system. But, who knows?:erm:
