Jan 2009: What are you watching?

So what are you watching? 'Net, TV... whatever.

Mad Men Season 2 - It took a while for Season 1 to grow on me, especially with the lead character being such a self-important cad. But it has, and with each season being only 13 eps, it's a light watch.

The Office Season 2 - Enjoyable, though sometimes it's hard to watch some of the awkward, foot-in-your-mouth humour.

The Guild Season 2 - I'm quite enjoying this season; quality has been raised all across the board.

On deck: Speed Racer the movie.

Most of my shows cluster up on Thursdays...

My Name is Earl
The Office
30 Rock
Smallville

And then I will keep up with BSG online when it resumes, and Lost when it starts up again.

The Unit Possibly the only show that I watch which has not let me down in some way. Maybe not the best show I watch, but it is VERY solid and consistant.

Sanctuary I watch it in spite of the terrible CGI sets and effects and mediocre acting (though standard for a SciFi series).

That's all currently, TV shows that are starting in the next few weeks that I will be watching are:

24 Man, it's been like 18 months. I need my Jack fix, and I don't mean Daniels. Listened to an interview with Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) yesterday and I'm excited about seeing them recover from season 6's 'meh'.

Battlestar Galactica It took me a couple years to get over my nerdrage about the reimagining of the series. (Starbuck is a CHICK? I don't care how hot she is, that's just wrong...) Once I did though, I dove into BSG fanboyism. Great show and the plot twists have been supurb for the most part. Too bad this is the last season, I don't know if the follow up series will be something I watch, but I'll have to give it a shot at least.

LOST Ah... the love/hate relationship I have with LOST. two more seasons. Will this be a 'Season 1/4 or will it be more 2/3... the suspense is killing me. ;)

So say we all!

Anyhow... I just started the 2nd series of Spaced (LTTP on that one). I'm looking forward to the premieres of BSG and Lost, though it pains me to watch anything on ABC after their decision not to air the final episodes of Pushing Daisies.

Last film I Netflixed was Takeshi Miike's Sukiyaki Western Django, a Japanese spaghetti western/samurai film which was more-or-less wonderful. Next up, a Thai film called Last Life in the Universe.

My general list:

Monday: Terminator, Chuck, Heroes
Tuesday: NCIS, Fringe, L&O:SVU
Wednesday: Knight Rider
Thursday: CSI, The Eleventh Hour
Friday: Supernatural
Saturday: Naruto, Blue Dragon, Bleach
Sunday: Simpsons

Upcoming TV:
Lost - Please don't suck. Hoping for a S1 or S2, not S3 or S4. Heard that they answer some island questions right away (finally!), so I should be happy. Glad it's the second-last season, though.

BSG - I've choked through it this far, so I might as well finish it.

DVD:
- Finishing Record of Lodoss War TV. Wife loves it.
- Moving on to Ranma 1/2 next (I've only ever gotten as far as S4.)

On TV:

Monday: Chuck, My Own Worst Enemy (not sure when thoe two are coming back, though), Gundam 00, Macross Plus. And for some reason I've never been able to fully ween myself off of Monday Night RAW, it's like a bad habit.
Thursday: Burn Notice returns Jan. 22 at 10!
Monday-Thursday: Daily Show and Colbert Report
All other days: Nothing particularly interesting.
Whenever it happens to come on G4, I watch Trigger Happy TV.

Online:
Urusei Yatsura (watched 120/195 episodes, 4/6 movies, and 0/?? OVAs so far)
Inukami! (I wanted to stab my eyes out at a few parts, but loved it despite that)
Hanaukyo Maids (Total guilty pleasure, but after Inukami!, I earned my eye candy! And it is rather funny.)
Special Unit 2 (Old show that I love, online's about the only reliable place to view it now)

Upcoming:
Code Geiss
Bubblegum Crisis (It's a crime I haven't made time for this still)

Finished Speed Racer and thought it was visually innovative, but went on too long. Was hard to figure out the action scenes, which were like hyper-pinball.

Saw Man on Wire about this French tight rope walker who crossed the WTC towers and thought it was one of the best docus I've ever seen.

I don't have cable / satellite so its strictly DVDs for me.

I am still plugging at DnD the Animated series. I'm looking to order the Witchblade animated and batman Animated sets next.

For movies-

Just saw Death Race. It is what it sounds like. Not in a hurry to buy.
