So anybody else thinking the artist made some very Erol Otus colour and style choices for the myconids?

My thoughts exactly. I was very excited by the old school vibe I got off of it.

I am not sure it's a weakness or a strength that your story reminds me of the Prince of Frosts story - he grew cold because he lost his lover and is searching for her reincarnation. (Was that one of your ideas that you submitted to Dragon you mentioned in the Prince of Frost thread?)

Not really, no. I guess this was just the Ravenloft fan in me trying to come up with a tragic story to make the Queen someone relatable. I avoided sending a Queen article (no, not Freddie Mercury's stats ) because I figured she'd be the next in line after Bane. But it's been so long, maybe I'll submit it.

I got inspired by Nepthytys, Isis, Orpheus and by D&D's own Wee Jas and the Eternal Glory (the non-evil undead religion from Libris Mortis).

Plus I wanted the title Raven Queen to mean something, so I gave her that Odin vibe with Huggin and Munnin.

I really dug the Eternal Glory. It adds a creepy factor that you don't get in many Gods, as well as a new angle.

Add in the Galorian god of Romantic Suicide to the Eternal Glory, and hell-yeah.

I'm not so sure. This kind of raises the grind alert level to Orange for me:

Orange? Forget that, it's a Red alert. If you have a 50% to hit, that just got reduced to 25%. Yuck.
