The weapon and armor illustrations are from the Gamemastery Item Cards. Great way to tie two products together.
Recycled art is not cool. It's not cool when WotC does it, and it's not cool when Paizo does it. I know their budgets can't be compared, but I thought they'd go the full monty for their flagship product.

While I generally agree with you (certainly when it comes to any larger artwork), I think it may have been a deliberate choice in this case. The item cards are meant to be used as a play-aid at the table, so there's a certain value in having instant-recognition of the illustrations. If the picture in the book and the picture on the card match, it makes them easier to use.

The preview .pdfs are zipped? I thought people had learned how annying this is? Please Paizo, you can do better.

Are the PrCs revamped? I always thought that the core 3.x PrC were boring, uninspired and a waste of space - yet here they are again.

Like the layout and the copious amount of whitespace, but the text... Nah, the font is okay. Not perfect, but useable. Especially happy that even a compilation-product like Pathfinder sees how important whitespace is.

However, the races... anybody remember the "yaaargh Anime!" threads in ENworld? Somehow i doubt that people are going to freak out like that over Gnome McDruguser Purplehair. Some things are easier for the Underdog. ;)

All in all, a big step up from the 3.5 layout. I think Paizo has a winner on their hands. A high-fantasy winner, however (Scotti the Underwear-dwarf and the rainbow-colors-weapon-collection seems somehow at odds with Sword&Sorcery).

It's a 576 page full color book for only $50. Something had to go.

And, as an owner of far too many item cards, I'm cool with matching equipment. :)

I like the art for the races better. I also like the page design. I won't be buying it, but nice job on the production values. I hope it sells well for Erik, James, and Jason.

Yep... the gnome art is a big disappointment for me. However, it's been like that since the alpha version, so I was already resigned... ;)
