Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Ingot stands and approaches the bar, holding its still-untouched drink.

Excuse me, Kruk, was it? I could not help but notice... your armor, it's very unusual looking. I don't think I've ever seen its like. Pardon my curiosity, but who crafted it? And what are its properties?

Ingot stands and approaches the bar, holding its still-untouched drink.

Excuse me, Kruk, was it? I could not help but notice... your armor, it's very unusual looking. I don't think I've ever seen its like. Pardon my curiosity, but who crafted it? And what are its properties?

"It was given to me by a influential man named Marley as a result of group of five adventurers, myself included, doing him a favor. However, what became of him later on is anyone's guess. Rumor has it that he was killed, but I don't know for sure." Kruk stares into space in deep thought for a moment. "As for the armor, I can tell you that it protects me more from physical attacks than standard platemail, and it transforms in color to a firey red when I'm in battle. What other properties it has I have not yet noticed, but I'm sure there are more. (see PBH +1 Black Iron Plate)." Kruk then laughs outloud. "I will tell you that it doesn't protect against electricity, as I painfully found out, multiple times in my last encounter where the same group of five fought a fat evil spell caster and his gnoll buddies. He took great pleasure in zaping me repeatedly with what looked like a lamb chop!" Kruk then stops as he sees that Ingot is starting to lose interest. Realizing that, Kruk states "err...sorry about that...some say that I talk too much."

Kruk then turns to see if the barkeep has finished preparing his order. Not yet. He then turns back to Ingot and asks "Why do you ask?"

The warforged listens to the dwarf's explanation with apparent interest.

He then turns back to Ingot and asks "[/COLOR]Why do you ask?"

Ingot nods. "I am a student of the smithing crafts. I am always on the lookout for interesting work. From the study of such examples I hope to upgrade my skills. With upgraded skills I can better serve Vulkar's will." It gestures to the holy symbol painted on the chest of its chainmail hauberk.

"Better than examples, of course, are lessons from master smiths themselves. I will remember the name Marley; should he prove to remain among the living and should I chance to meet him, I will inquire further about the maker of that armor. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity."

Ingot sits back on a barstool, apparently out of things to say for the moment.

"You're welcome" Kruk states to Ingot "As for the origin of the armor, I haven't a clue." Kruk turns again to the barkeep and sees his drinks are ready. "Ah, thank you kind sir." Kruk grabs his mug of ale and carefully picks up the fragile glass of wine, afraid that he will crush it in his hand. He walks back to the table of adventures, gives Raiyek his wine, and then grabs another chair and drags it to the table.

As soon as he sits down, a muscular figure carrying a finely crafted shield and battle axe enters the tavern. "Is there someone named Kruk here!" Kruk turns and smiles. "Ah, my new equipement is here." He states to the party. "Over here!" Kruk shouts to the man, who then walks over to the table. Kruk reaches into his money pouch and counts out a handful of gold pieces. He then pays the man. After a quick inspection of both the shield and axe, Kruk smiles and thanks the man. Turning to Raiyek he states, "now I believe I'm ready."

Raiyek, who had closed his eyes and leaned back his head, comes alert once again when Kruk returns. "Thank you," he says to Kruk as he takes his glass of wine, smelling the bouquet.

When Kruk's new equipment arrives, Raiyek quirks an eyebrow. "Decided you wanted a shield? I was debating whether or not I should adopt a style more similar to yours and use that gnoll's blade," he says, indicating the overlarge sword across his back, "but I decided I could not part with my shield; it has been my saviour numerous times. Not to mention that I would not have the visage of Palladys to carry into battle if I were to abandon it." The elf turns his hip so the new bastard sword hanging there is more visible. "I did, however, buy some new equipment of my own," he concludes with a wink. Turning to the rest of those at the table, he asks, "And what of the rest of you? What is it that you specialize in?"

Raiyek, who had closed his eyes and leaned back his head, comes alert once again when Kruk returns. "Thank you," he says to Kruk as he takes his glass of wine, smelling the bouquet.

From the bar, Ingot watched the elf savor his wine. It turned to the bartender. "All right, now I'd like one of what he's having." When the glass arrived, Ingot placed it beside its mug of ale, then sniffed at the two drinks comparatively. "Hmmmm..." It seemed pleased.

[sblock=OOC]I know warforged don't have to eat or drink - can they? I'd assume so.

And can they get drunk?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]The book says they don't need to eat or drink, not that they don't eat or drink. Your assumption is a logical one, IMHO.

I don't know much about warforged, but I haven't seen anything about an immunity to poison or anything similar, so I'd guess that getting drunk is a definite possibility, and an excellent roleplaying opportunity! Of course, I'm not the guy running this show, so his mileage may vary. ;) [/sblock]

A soldier wearing the livery of the town guard walks into the tavern, his features hard an severe, as he looks around at the nearly empty establishment. The man sighs and shakes his head, leaving the bar. As the serving wench brings the halfling the ale, she says to him "Poor guy, there be a rumour that I've heard in the Town Screamer about some sorta with the nobles. He probably came here looking for some adventuring types to help." as she looks around the quiet tavern, adding "I wouldn't mind a few more of you guys in here neither, it's too quiet right now.
