[sblock] (sorry, someone had to go there, I figured why not me?! - but it is a joke, i actually do like/tolerate most of her work, and if this is too harsh a joke for the forum, i'll remove/edit it or mods are free to edit so as well)

In the U.S. "taint" is used as slang for the perineum (and if you don't want to look up that word, let's just say it is a part of the body covered by underwear, I can't draw a map to it without making this grandma unfriendly). Of course, that is just 'slang' so it might be slightly more regional within the US rather tan all of the US. And, of course, the word taint is a valid word on its own with its own meaning.
So I think it has different reactions here (in the US) than there in the UK (where your location lists you as being from).
... wow, for a humor-tagged thread, i've been way too serious here. sorry. i shall go stand in the forum of shame (also known as Plots & Places - EN World D&D / RPG News ) -- kidding by the way, it's one of my favorite forums here that is under-visited
Umm.. yeah, I could have sworn when I saw your post that it said UK in your location. Bah, that's what I get for having 10 tabs open to different forums on here at once.
(or, perhaps you JUST changed your location; all part of your master plan to confuse me... i'm on to your wily games, blarg!)
Reading the article, I really thought they were going to tie Will o Wisps into the it somehow.
Floating, ephemeral "things" that fed on emotions.
So, how about <something> wisps? Terror Wisps, Despairing Wisps, etc...
I also have the damn "I've fallen but I can't get up" classic commercial running thru my head, but now the person Fell on their... anyhow... Fell Taint is a poor choice for a monster name here in the New York area
