Not what I heard. It is a limited build, and while they might not call it a playtest, I woud be very surprised if there were not changes before PHBIII, so I would call it a playtest.

I'm sure there will be a few tweaks here or there, but I'm not sure we'll see changes on the scale of the artificer (or probably even the monk). I have a feeling that the psion has been "done" for a while; IMO, its the obvious place to start when you begin designing psionic classes.

I always got the impression they designed the psion at the same time as the wizard or at least spent some thought on it then.

There was someone from wizards that commented that they hadn't published psionics till now simply becuase they felt the martial, arcane, divine, and primal power sources were more important. So that says to me that they've been working on it if not since the very begining at least for a long time, they've just been sitting on it.

Well, to get the converstaion back on track, as the last three posters missed....

Well, if the psion is a striker, as some people suggest, what does everyone think will be their extra damage trick?

So far we have:
Rogue: Extra damage with combat advantage 1/round
Ranger: Quarry extra damage 1/round
Barbarian: Extra damage built into their powers.
Avenger: No extra damage but rolling twice in most cases.
Sorceror: Extrra damage on all arcane powers, can be applies many many times in the right situtation
Monk: I never saw that, maybe someone can fill it in.

So what will be the Psion's mechanic? Any ideas?

I personally think it will be something like the 3.5 gaining focus. Maybe a move action that can be lowered to a minor with a feat that requites some kind of concentration check. When successful, it allows the psion to add an effect, not extra daamge, to a psionic ability/power/spell (manifestation?)

Maybe weakened to start and stronger abilities in certain situations or at higherlevels or PPs?

Monk: extra damage to same or adjacent target on a hit

I cannot immagine why anyone would think the psion would be a striker, and I for one certainly hope the psion is not a striker.

I'm definattly counting on Controller, maybe Leader perhaps, but I'm sure it'll be Controller why would anyon think striker?
