OOC: did you mean Pendrake?

Of course. I've edited it now. When I took over The Forgotten Map I got into the habit of associating your username with Karl. I've got to get a new set of habits by association now.

OOC: i figured as such. I got a good laugh out of it!

[sblock=for the dm's eyes only]
The northerner has never experienced magical transport before, so he is somewhat disoriented for a short bit, complicated by the darkness. When he figures out that he is not immediately in danger, he takes invetory of his belongings to ensure he at least has all of his weapons and an intact backpack. Once he has completed that, he sits for a bit to see if his friends follow him through the strange doorway.

'zees ist nicht asgart' the thinks to himself. 'so alive i must to be.' [/sblock]

"Huh." Semabin looks at the marking that just "ate" Pendrake. "I guess it is the portal, though it's different form the magic portal I saw once. I'll follow." he continues, drawing his scimitars, and allowing the rope to be tied. "Actually..., he sheathes one of the scimitars, "do we have more torches?"

Eanos does his best to tie off the rope, then lights a second torch and hands it to Semabin.

"We should agree on a signal, no? How about, If it's safe to come through, tug the rope twice," Eanos says. "I don't understand magic enough to know if that's possible through a portal, but we might as well try. Three times if there's trouble and we need to pull you back?"

Semabin, with the rope tied around him, touches the `X' and like Pendrake is pulled through. Who or what is holding the rope on the other side?

((OOC: I had thought to attach it to a large rock if one was available, but if not, I guess Eanos is going to be trying to anchor it himself.))

There are a number of medium-sized rocks lying loose, but nothing large enough to be an anchor against a man's weight.

So Eanos holds the rope. When Semabin goes through, Eanos feels too powerful a tug. He must either let go or be pulled to the other side. It is a decision you must make instantaneously; if you do not let go, you will be pulled to the other side faster than you can ask anyone's advice (or inquire about what is on the other side). What does he do?

[sblock=Semabin]When you cross through the panel, you have a feeling of moving -- not sure what direction, but you aren't in one spot. The pull of the rope feels awkward; I'll wait to hear whether Eanos lets go before reporting.[/sblock]

Eanos, human monk

Eanos, convinced that he'll somehow manage to find the footing he needs, holds on. He fails, however, to find that footing, and is sucked in with Semabin.

[sblock=Pendrake, Eanos, Semabin]Semabin and Eanos are teleported.. they know not where, but they land next to Pendrake. Nothing you say will be heard by those on the other side of the portal -- it's too far away, wherever it is. On the upside, with your torches, you can now see.

You are in a massive underground space, between a river and a large wall of karst.[/sblock]

[sblock=The others]You have now seen three comrades pass through the wall, and hear nothing. You also have no light, as Eanos and Semabin were the ones holding the torches. What do you do now?[/sblock]

[sblock=Pendrake, Eanos, Semabin]"That... could have gone better. Where are we?" Semabin looks around, and checks if the wall that spat them out has a marking as well, but not touching anything yet.[/sblock]
