[sblock=Pendrake, Eanos, Semabin]"That... could have gone better. Where are we?" Semabin looks around, and checks if the wall that spat them out has a marking as well, but not touching anything yet.[/sblock]
[sblock=Pendrake, Eanos, Semabin] "Ack!" curses the northerner, shielding his eyes from the sudden light. He blinks a coiuple of times and sees who it is before his hand can make it to his sword. "Sh, I haf heard noises of moofment." He whispers to the other two. He now looks about to see where he is for the first tim, then stands up.[/sblock]

Eanos, human monk

[sblock=Pendrake, Eanos, Semabin]"That... could have gone better. Where are we?" Semabin looks around, and checks if the wall that spat them out has a marking as well, but not touching anything yet.[/sblock]

[sblock=Pendrake, Eanos, Semabin]"Could have been worse, too," Eanos offers, cracking his neck. As Semabin looks at the wall and Pendrake mentions movement, Eanos turns his senses to their surroundings, trying to determine if and where anyone else might be in the cavern.

[sblock=beyond the looking rock X]guys, I said there was sounds of movement, but I think I was in error. I can't find where orsal mentioned anything about movement. I was wrong about that. sorry.[/sblock]

Have we lost Michael again? If we don't hear from him soon, then for whatever reason he didn't follow you through the portal. If he shows up again, then he came after some delay, and we'll work with that. For now, you can decide how long in game-time you waited to see if he'd come after you.

You don't see or hear any creatures in the immediate vicinity. However, there is a well-blazed path running parallel to the river, so you seem to be on some well-used travel route.

In the karst, you can see several caves large enough for medium-sized creatures to explore.

Eanos turns back to the portal. "If we can't figure out a way to send an all-clear back to Michael, we may need to simply leave him a note," he suggests.

"If this portal was supposed to take us to those who needed us, I suppose the well-worn path is the most likely route to them?"

((OOC: I'd say we probably would only wait 10-15 minutes? If Michael didn't come by then, it would have been likely he assumed us dead and went on his own?))

Semabin looks at the wall expecting Michael to emerge after all, but as it seems that it isn't happening, he shakes his head, shaking off some memories in the process, and nods. "Let's go, then."

You're not at the end of the path, so there are two directions to choose from. I'll randomly choose, since you haven't given any reason to prefer one or the other: You proceed with the river on your left and the stone on your right.

After walking about 5 minutes, you see a bald grey dwarf coming in the opposite direction.
[sblock=Knowledge(local) DC 10]This is a duergar, a notoriously evil race of dwarves who live in the underdark.[/sblock]

(While I believe DC 10 is still common knowledge and can be attempted untrained, I don't think Semabin has picked up much common knowledge despite his time adventuring. I'll sit out on that roll.)
