Hey Logan Bonner or Mike Mearls, how to handle free actions after charge?

Yeah, it's happened twice in our games... the first time was particularly crazy since it basically ended a boss encounter, in the first round (I'm not _entirely_ sure why, but it was 171 damage in one round at level 7 and it just completely broke the back on the bad guys)... the second time was a lot more tame.

I got a private response from Logan Bonner. I didn't ask for permission to publish it, but it also didn't say anything spectacular because he said he can't make definitive rulings. In his opinion the free action after a charge issue should be resolved in the group. So we are back at square one, since we know THAT solution already. But I also think that it confirms that even at the WotC designer level they can't pinpoint a definite RAW answer. It's time for an official update I guess. Until then, guys, go with the fun, and taking away rampage and swift charge is unfun. I think everybody can confirm that.

BTW, rampage can only happen once per turn. I think this is often overlooked by barbarian players in blood rage. But of course Rampage and Swift Charge can trigger in one turn. That stuff is just fun for everybody to watch. It's not obnoxious like watching frost cheese plus bloodclaw in action. It's just luck and very dynamic.

Thank god. After all the crap I've taken from my DM about Wardens not SUPPOSED to be able to charge and mark, this is a godsend. I love you... congrats on being in my sig.

Flipguarder believes in credit where credit is due, not sure how I managed to get there but hey ;-) by the way flip is there a story in that name?

This really is the main reason why I love playing barbarians. The rampage and swift charge class features beat everything else in my book, because I'm a gambler, and I like to hit, and I like to deal damage. I think they did a great job designing the barbarian. My only complaint are the paragon paths, but I hold my breath until Primal Power comes out.

I really, really hate to ask this - but how does the new At-Will, Warden's Lunge, enter into this?

It seems like a fairly useless power to me unless you can't make Free Actions (including the warden's free action mark) at the end of a charge.

Combine the two and you can mark someone you move past, as well as the target of your charge. Also, given how many wardens use reach weapons, it's nice in that respect.

I guard flips....

Naw, I just started combining words in 8th grade. My friends screenname for something was firespark. So I was just like "that's ridiculous, you just slammed two words together" he said to do the same...

Now I just like it because nobody else would ever think of it. Also I loved it when I named my blood elf warrior in wow flipguarder... that was just amusing (blood elves often flip when they jump, and warriors are defenders)

Ah Garthan is a character from long ago... Garth means guard in the real world. But the fantasy character's name means true one in dragon. The os is sort of a greekization done because some sites required longer usernames... tadah ;-)
