So I was perusing through my feeds this morning when I saw this article on Boing Boing:

D&D camp, circa 1982

Wow, I had no idea that there was even such a thing as a roleplaying summer camp.

Wow, I didn't know they had DnD camps back then. Cool!

I know that Black Diamond Games in the past has held DnD Summer Camps, run by a friend.

And Dr. Comics and Mr. Games has something of a day camp, though they call it a Role Play Workshop.

In 1984 I saw their ad in Dragon and sent for info. I really wanted to go, but my parents would spring for it.

Man. I would enjoy running or at least supporting something like a D&D camp, now of days.

That's interesting. In the mid/late 90s WotC held a Game Camp in Seattle. I attended it for the first two years, was very fun. That's also where I discovered Settlers of Catan and Monty Python & the Holy Grail, amongst other things...

I went to some D&D camps (well, RPG camps, but it was mostly D&D) back in 80-82, here in Sweden. Great fun!

It was a gaming club, oddly enough affiliated with the Swedish Navy's Youth Club, and held out on one of the small islands where they had sailing camps.

A whole week with nothing but gaming*!



* Oddly enough it doesn't seem quite as attractive these days...
