The Most Under-Powered Race?

I like tieflings; I think their fire resistance is a pretty solid ability (there are a lot of fire attacks in the game, and a lot of fire ongoing effects). Bloodhunt is useful because for about half the fight you'll be getting a delicious +1 to hit the opponent.

Halflings make very good sorcerers. :)

Tieflings are kind of meh with the better options out there. (Eladrin and Genasi look real good). On the other hand, they have +1 to hit with fire powers, which is very good. Hellish Rebuke is a crappy racial power.

Razorclaw Shifters looks really bad. Outright boring in fact.

Can't help but agree with the Razorclaw.

I'm not too fond of Gnomes either, but I can see the corner case argument for a not-so-underpowered gnome with a few arcane tricks.

Small is the worst racial 'power' out there and there is nothing given to Small races to make up for this.

However Halflings have great feats and Second Chance is hard to argue with. Tempest Fighter is a natural outlet for them and with the recent nerfing of Double Weapons a simple pair of shortswords or katars is very competitive.

I fine Tieflings often seem weak unless you can somehow leverage all their powers and feats into one direction. Paladin is a good fit as it makes Infernal Wrath always effective. Fighter can work to so long as you intend to be a Tiefling Warfiend or otherwise take full advantage of Lingering Wrath.

In one of our games, we are up against an organization that is led by drow.

As a result, my vote for worst racial 'power' ever is normal vision.

Every damn fight is us getting ambushed because our humans can't see in low light conditions.

The hardest for me, personally, is human -- because as awesome as an extra class power, an extra feat, and +1 to a defense is, trading +2 to a stat (and usually, the accompanying offensive boost that gives) is hard.

The humans was one that I didn't like too much because they have a +2 to only one ability score. If you take the approach that you want to build the best class X with emphasis on ability scores and then decide which race to take, then almost all of the time, some other race is going to be better than humans.

With more books coming out, I find that this is not as much of a disadvantage as before. Now that many classes have more at-wills to choose from, that third at-will seems pretty useful for many classes. The same with feats. There are now more feats that are available, so that extra feat is now more useful.

Right now, I don't think that there is an under-powered race. The only candidates for under-powered races are the newest races only because there is fewer material like feats that support those races.

Psst. Sunrods. Use 'em. Love 'em. Or hate 'em.

Bigger Clue: Find a new employer and stop wandering around in the dark where you can't see. IRL you'd have quit in disgust a long time ago.

Otherwise I strolled in to say Razorclaw Shifters. I want to like them, I really do. But they just don't get it done.
