Adventure: Just Before Nightfall (DM:johnmeier1, Judge:Ozymandias79)

[sblock=Social skills]
Murphy's got +6 on streetwise...he's certainly no Dextyr...Perhaps Larinza can help out Murphy?

Ya Dextyr turned out to be a Social skill challenge specialist. Hey, everyone needs to be good at something (and I can think of worse things than being good at sweet talking the ladies... :D)

[sblock=Approvals]
Dextyr is not yet approved for level 2 yet either. I glanced at the character wiki and it appeared to me that there are 81 characters waiting approval so I'm guessing that it may take a while for the judges to work their way through all that.

Is this idiot with you? Either lock him up or we'll put him out of his misery.
"Idiot?! You is rude!"

"Tonk, please stand down my punch-brother. Blah-blah-blah. Blah-blah..."
Tonk, unfazed by all the weapons leveled at him, offers a bemused look to Dextyr. "Uh...what is for to 'stand down'? Is another way of say 'sit'? You know, I not get much of other stuff you say. I is very confuse when you talk fast and use big word."

Good riddance to the lot o' ya. Just stay out of our way if you know what's good for ya.
"Wow. I try for to make the friend, and you no want. Is very disappoint. I think maybe next time, we just do Throat Slash of No Like You."

As the party walks out, Tonk 'accidentally' stumbles against a couple of them and steals papers or journals from their pockets. (Thievery: 1d20+12=30 -- That should give us some information!)

"I s'psoe that about ruins my chances with the halfling, way ta go Tonk"
"If you want for to attack halfling, why not you say so? I let you go first, yes?"

After the others leave, Tonk gives the papers/journals/whatnot to Dextyr.

After Larinza loses her battle tension she listen to Tonk and can't help but laugh.

"If you want for to attack halfling, why not you say so? I let you go first, yes?"

"Tonk, I don't think Murphy wanted to 'attack' the halfling, he wanted to make human-halfling baby"

After the commotion settles, the innkeeper offers dinner and drink to all for a reasonable price. The paper Tonk was able to slip from the dragonborn as he was nearby has written in a clumsy hand:

"Deliver the boy to me and take care of anyone who gets in your way. I will send some assistance to you this evening. -Jimmy"

[sblock=OOC] That puts you at 5 successes. I will wait on the Streetwise check of Murphy, since Shorrin or Janus or Larinza can attempt an assist to push it to 20. Or they can try a different skill (primary or secondary) since play by post is out of order.

Skill Challenge (5 successes, 2 failures)
Round 2 - Dextyr (Bluff), Tonk (Thievery)

I guess I moved to quickly for the approval process. Can I just wait to award XP until after the entire adventure is over?

In the meantime you can buy dinner/drink or you can use up rations. I wonder if any other DMs do this? :)

Murphy overhears their conversation, it's especially hard to avoid hearing the half-orc speak. After finding out any information he can from the locals, the human walks back over, "I'm not lookin' ta be makin' any babies, just be havin' a little fun" he says, chuckling at his own joke

"The term 'Stand-Down' was an old military saying my father used to use when my older brothers and I were rough-housing, err, wresting or fighting with each other. It basically means to stop what we were doing and calm down" Dextyr offers up to Tonk as the other adventures leave. "I am sorry too confuse you when I talk fast and use big words. Where I come from everyone talks a lot and uses a lot of big words all of the time. I'll try and slow it down a little if you'd like"

Dextyr takes the offered paper from Tonk and reads it over. "Hmm it appears that these guys are working for someone nammed 'Jimmy' and he has instructed them to take care of anyone who gets in their way. He mentioned sending them some assistance tonight, but I cannot tell how old this note is"

[sblock=Skill Challange difficulties]
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't streetwise a primary skill, and as such had a DC 15? I belive Murphy's roll beat that without any assistance.

Tonk gasps in shock, hand covering his mouth. "You is to make the hanky and the panky?! Oh, you is naughty person! Is better for to marry first!"

"It basically means to stop what we were doing and calm down"
"Oh. Okay. Well, I already do, yes? I stop hit dwarf, and wait for dwarf to hit back. And I pretty calm whole time. No angry. No upset. Just happy and want to make the friend."

Dextyr takes the offered paper from Tonk and reads it over. "...to take care of anyone who gets in their way..."
"Hmm. That weird. You think if they take care of anyone who get in way, they be pretty nice, yes? Why they so rude and not want to make the friend? Is odd if they is care so much."

"Well I am sure that they mean "take care" in a bad way, like you take care of a fox who tries to steal your chickens - you kill it. Dextyr makes a slicing across the throat motion to illustrate his point.

I am sure that is what this Jimmy person means for them to do to anyone who gets in their way of finding that boy. I just hope that Isabelle doesn't happen to get herself in their way. I think that it would be a good thing if we found her before they find them together" Dextyr replies to Tonk, and any of the others who are present.
