[sblock=We totally got this]Maybe. I hope so. I mean, I think so.
Skills like Arcana, Perception, and Thievery could probably be used to find mechanisms to help shut off the engine. Athletics, Endurance, and maybe even Nature could be used to put out the fires. And for the social skills, well, maybe you can encourage/threaten/fool the captain into being more useful. But you can still attempt to Aid Another. These, of course, are just the ideas I have off the top of my head. Maybe you can think of a reason to use Arcana or Thievery to extinguish the fire. Does Eberron, and this train in particular have magical fire extinguishers? I can only hope.
What we need to do is be very careful about our resources, namely, our standard actions. We only get six a round, but Gurdan not going to be able to get into a burning car this round, and it's not going to be long before people are going to need to use second winds. It seems vital that every skill challenge gets at least one attempt per round, just to avoid the auto-failure.
Ok, I have a plan. Challenge #2 is the one that's going to kill us if we don't pass it asap, while #s 1 and 3 are just ones we don't want to fail. So what we need to do is put as many resources into #2 while giving the others just enough to slow down their failures.
Only one person works on Challenge #3, and that person is the only one in that cabin. Additional people only increases the chance of getting a failure on it, and we really don't want to be splitting our focus any more than we have to be. So someone who's good at fighting fires needs to do it. Lo-Kag's the closest, but he should swap out with Gurdan once the latter can get into the middle car. Also, only one person should work on #1, for the same reason. Masumi or Garrick would be best for this, I suppose, and they should probably use the captain, since we really don't want to fail #1. Meanwhile, the rest of us work on #2, so that we don't all melt.
Does this make sense? I'm pretty sure this is a solid plan, but I'd like to hear what you the viewers think about it before I go ahead and roll.
Kalidrev, you don't mind if we make Aid Another rolls after recipient has already rolled, do you? *crosses fingers*
Sort of wish I had stuck with my Tiefling Artificer, not going to lie. That innate fire resist is looking pretty nice about now.[/sblock]
