LFG booted from DragonCon

I'm trying to grow the vendor/dealer area at D&D XP so send them all my way LOL. I bet we charge a lot less then Dragoncon does (less people to but hey we can dream) and all disputes are settled over beers at the Irish Pub.

LFG is written by the same guy who made another comic in which his author fantasy persona spent a week ranting about how TED was made of a bunch of horrible evil people, and later talked about how the N1H1 vaccine was made by incompetent anti-scientists just to kill you.

Forgive me if I don't exactly take him at word :U

Least I Could Do is a hilarious webcomic and if you can't recognize SATIRE then I feel very very very sorry for you.

Sohmer is, well he's a pretty awesome dude. Blind Ferret Entertainment is one of those awesome companies just like Enworld or EN Publishing or any one of 10 d20 game design companies. It's run by someone who truly loves what they are doing and for the most part they try to be very very professional.

I take the letter at his word. If he approached them in a civil manner, never raised his voice and patiently waited, then walked away thinking it was resolved I belive him. Apparently the fact that he didn't just accept what happened to him wasn't enough for DragonCon.

They are in their rights to not do business with whomever they please, but they deserve all the bad publicity they get as a result.

First off, capitalization of words like that used to be my thing, 'till I got better at not doing it. Secondly, the hilarity or lack thereof of Smug Douchebag McAuthorInsertion is up for grabs and comes down to personal preference. Thirdly, satire does not work that way.

I take the letter at his word.

This is the point at which you should have realized you were flat out stating "I don't care about the facts, I've already made up my mind!" and instead deleted your post.

Except the TED one does so in order to get the other forum members to join him in disagreeing with it, and the H1N1 vaccine states that he's only getting it for his kid, and that otherwise, he wouldn't touch it.

So hey.
That decision on the H1N1 vaccine is actually the reasonable position, biologically. It's the flu. I had it, my wife had it. Had a crappy week as a result, but we're still here. Healthy young adults are not in much danger, and burning a few sick days is no big deal if you have reasonable employee benefits.

Better to leave the rather limited vaccine for those who actually need it.

Also, did you actually read his post about TED?

It seems that some of you are unfamiliar with the TED series of conferences of which Rayne is apparently speaking at, and I find that rather alarming. Not because I agree or disagree with a specific TED topic or speaker, but because the talks tend to be about things that should be talked about, should be debated.
That is the antithesis of being anti-TED. He wants people to know about TED and get involved in the issues, whether they agree or disagree.

He then asks people to discuss the TED talks in his forum. Discuss does not mean "disagree." He even offers product as an incentive for intelligent discussion!

He then goes on to say explicitly
Watch TED. You just might learn something of value.

After reading that, I think it's time that I start reading this guy's comic. He seems like pretty smart, plugged in cat.

Finally, since BrooklynKnight knows a bunch about the guy running LFG, he has character reference, which is a perfectly valid reason to take him at his word. You are the one who seems to be reading his very clear words and running in the completely the opposite direction with them.

The Center for Disease Control notes that "young adults" up to age 24 are actually in the risk category where they recommend getting the vaccine. For some reason, young adults are hit harder by this H1N1.

Dude. You really need to consider the source of the character reference. I'd link to the Circvs Maximvs wiki entry on ArthurQ/ArtQ/Borko/BrooklynKnight/BrutusMaximvs, but it would probably give Eric's grandmother a stroke. Anyway, you really should go check it out.

You've been around since 2002 so you should have a very clear idea exactly who borko is and what is word is worth.

Because they weren't alive last time there was an H1N1 around.

Most of them still live, unless they have respiratory pre-existing conditions. And even them most of them still live. It's seriously not much worse than regular flu, even if you've never been exposed to an H1N1. Half the students in my department had it, and almost all of them are under 24. My wife was actually one of the worst cases I've heard about, and we didn't have to go to the hospital or anything. And she has asthma. Put her on her back for a few days and severely curtailed her diet.

People old enough that they should be having kids have probably had some exposure in the past.

"Pandemic" does not mean "deadly." It means "widespread." The CDC is, as usual, going the CYA route. And the media is, as usual, going the "scare everyone out of their mind" route.

Incidentally, in terms of flu "young adult" generally means "not a senior citizen." Risk profile doesn't shoot up until you're in your 60s unless you have lung issues or something like that. High risk groups include senior citizens and very young children. People under 24 are more or less a "medium risk group" because of the relative rarity of H1N1 influenzas. I'm in my 30s, hale, and hearty. Even if I hadn't gotten the fool thing already, I wouldn't be rushing out the door to get vaccinated. There are any number of people who have a LOT higher risk than me.

On the BrooklynKnight thing.... I'm not saying he's a paragon of virtue. I'm not saying that his opinion is influencing mine. I'm saying that he is allowed to make a decision based on prior knowledge about a person. If someone you don't know was accused of being unpleasant to someone you liked... what would you assume? He was accused of taking the tack, and I quote: "I don't care about the facts, I've already made up my mind!" There are no confirmed facts in this thread. There is one story from one side of the issue and a whole bunch of people making unfounded assumptions about one or both parties. Having any character reference or history on one of the participants means he has more info than most posting here.

Just because he's sometimes not a reliable source does not make him wrong about something that no one here seems to have any actual hard fact about. It also doesn't mean it's OK to randomly cast aspersions on his character without any facts of your own.
