Pathfinder 1E Golarion: I'm very impressed

"Tian Xia", eh? So who's the cever bugger over at Paizo that studied Chinese? Heh heh. Or maybe you're a fan of the movie Hero?

James, I have to say that I've been on an RPG hiatus since ~August 07, but finding these threads and reading through your online SRD has given me the itch again. Golarian looks pretty darn interesting too. Well done over there at Paizo; keep it up.

I do like the campaign world book. I hope it gets updated to the current ruleset soon and rereleased. There are certain holes in the book that don't fit with the current game system release.

Like what?

Sorcerer replacement power. Not all sorcerers get familiars or bonded weapons.

I think the druid special ability, but it could be the ranger, doesn't fit with the current Pathfinder rules.

I'll look through and see if I can find more. I seem to recall a few feats that don't work in so good with the current rules.

A 2nd edition of the Pathfinder Campaign Setting that's built for the Pathfinder Game seems like a no-brainer idea, doesn't it?

Stay tuned! :P

(And before folks panic... a second edition of this book would NOT invalidate any of the flavor of the world.)

Not saying you shouldn't do it - I'd love it if you did! But I contacted Paizo before buying the CS (back in the Beta days) and asked specifically if you were going to update it to official PF rules, as I didn't want to buy it only to have it re-done. I was told that there were no plans to update the campaign setting to PF. A minor blot on otherwise impeccable customer service, but still . . .

Dude, they said they had no plans to do so. They didn't promise you never to revisit that, or never to make plans to do so.

Easy, there! I'm firmly on the Paizo bandwagon - subscribe to two of their lines, buy tons of PDFs, etc. I loves me some Pathfinder! I'm happy with my current edition of Golarion, and I'm certain sure I'll be happy with the updated version (if and when it comes out). I did say I'd love for them to update Golarion to full PF compatibility.

AND I recognize that they made me no promises. But I still have the right to be a little dissatisfied that I spent my money based on what I was told when I checked the situation out. I did specify that it would be a minor blot.

Just a few points:

1) They probably didn't plan on it. I've seen them answer in the negative several times when this question has been asked, but it is obvious there is demand for the product, and as a publisher they need to realize when there is demand and change their plands accordingly. Its just good business.

2) It seems they are talking about just updating the crunch. Unless I'm wrong, the crunch of the Pathfinder stuff has consistantly been released as Open Content, so its very likely that it would make its way onto the PRD and d20psrd.com for you to donwload free of charge if you just wanted a 'patch' instead of buying a new book.

Myself? I would love to have a 2nd edition of the book that was brought up to the same quality of binding / cover as the Bestiary and the Core Rulebook. It isn't a bad book by any means, but its of noticibly worse binding compared to the excellent job they've done with their other two hard backs.
